    The Apprentice, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is a member of the Nursing team within the Community and whose role is part on the job learning and part formal education through a local CNA Training Program.

    Selected applicants to the Covenant Living apprenticeship program will apply for the Oakton Community College BNAT program in November and start their apprenticeship no later than mid-January.

    This program will last for up to 20 weeks and apprentices will receive an hourly rate of pay and have their CNA Training Program paid for by Covenant Living.

    Apprentices who successfully complete the program will be offered a permanent position and be requested to commit to a minimum 12-month work assignment with Covenant Living.


    During training, the apprentice will assist a member of the nursing team by helping residents with personal care and activities of daily living, while developing practical skills and observing all health and safety guidelines.

    Provide patient care at the direction of nursing staff

    Document care provided according to standards

    Maintain a clean work and resident environment

    Maintain supplies, including scanning, stocking and ordering new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies

    Participate in formal on-the-job training, mentoring, and department meetings

    *EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
    *Preferred Degree*: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with the exception of applicants who are attending high school

    *Experience:Entry Level, with a genuine compassion and patience for senior adults

    *KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:
    Must be accepted into a local, approved CNA Training Program

    Ability to read and comprehend instructions

    Ability to write simple correspondence

    Ability to communicate information in one-on-one of small group circumstances

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals

    Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios and proportions to practical situations

    Ability to put the resident at the center of everything you do by providing authentic and empathetic care
