Job summary

The Operations and Maintenance Division within the Public Service Department is seeking skilled individuals to join their crew of Maintenance Workers .This position allows individuals to contribute their skills and abilities by performing maintenance both safely and properly for the overall improvement of City streets and roadways.

Responsibilities

• Working on a paving crew to place non-compacted asphalt in proper location with a shovel and then racking the material with a lute
• Grading sub-base for installation of pavement sidewalks, curbs, gutters, grade surfaces ad setting concrete forms for pavement, sidewalks, curbs and gutters
• Visually checks form work to ensure that the forms meet line and grade requirements
• Placing and finishing concrete into the forms using rakes, shovels, derbies, come-alongs and other concrete tools for the proper and finishing of concrete
• Driving various trucks and operating snow plows and road salting equipment

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• One (1) year of experience performing asphalt work that includes work with a lute; or an equivalent combination of training and experience

• Minimum possession and maintenance of a valid State of Michigan Commercial Driver's License, Group B, with Air Brakes and N (tank) Endorsements
• Group A license must be acquired after employment and within ninety (120) days of employment
