Job summary
We are seeking an experienced MEP Engineer with a strong background in rail transit infrastructure to support design, construction, inspection, commissioning for heavy rail commuter rail transit facilities.The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with MTA Amtrak NJ Transit or similar transportation agencies and is able to apply engineering principles ensure safe reliable code-compliant Mechanical Electrical Plumbing systems across stations tunnels maintenance facilities support buildings
- Lead HVAC fire protection thermal systems design for stations tunnels support facilities
- Prepare calculations equipment specifications layout drawings per ASHRAE NFPA NYC NYS codes
- Coordinate mechanical design with structural electrical architectural teamsSupport field reviews submittal evaluations commissioningEvaluate ventilation smoke control systems for stations tunnelsSupport constructability reviews phased construction planning maintaining active rail operationsDesign power distribution lighting communications signaling support emergency power systemsPrepare electrical load analyses conduit cable schedules panel layoutsEnsure compliance NEC IEEE local utilities MTA Amtrak standardsInterface with systems operations CTS SCADA teamsPerform field inspections testing oversight electrical installationsDesign plumbing stormwater sanitary waste systems for stations facilitiesSpecify fixtures pumps backflow prevention drainage systmesCoordinate mechanical water heating mechanical room layoutsReview contractor submittals perform site visitsDesig sum pump drainage flood mitigation sytems below-grade rail infrastructureCoordinate plumbing design civil structural teams utility conflicts long-term maintenancLead multidisciplinary coordination meetings agencies architects contractorsPrepare technical reports specifications cost estimatesReview RFIs change orders as-built documentationAssist QA/QC monitoring MEP engineering workQualificationsRequiredBachelor degree Mechanical Electrical Architectural Engineering similar field5–10 years relevant experience rail transit transportation projectsStrong knowledge MTA Amtrak NJ Transit similar agency standardProficiency industry design tools AutoCAD Revit BIM 360 SKM HAP etcStrong communication teamwork skillsAbility work independently minimal supervisionPreferredProfessional Engineer PE license NY NJ nearby statesExperience Design-Bid-Build Design-Build project delivery methodsExperience system commissioning field investigationsKnowledge transit safety reliability maintainability accessibility codes
