    ACCOUNTING CLERK

    The Reno Housing Authority is seeking an experienced, detailed, and positive candidate to join our finance team as an Accounting Clerk. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with high volume accounts payable (A/P) experience that thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working with a professional, talented, and collaborative finance team, and desires to make a difference in our community every day As the A/P Accounting Clerk you would work collaboratively with internal RHA programs and external vendors to verify, review, and process the accounts payable financial transactions for the Reno Housing Authority.

    Examples of some of the positions essential duties are:

    • Perform day to day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable data.
    • Process a variety of invoices and payments including rental assistance payments.
    • Posts information to ledgers, journals, and reports; totals and balances figures, proofs data, and make corrections as required; prepares bank deposits.
    • Research and respond to questions relating to accounts payable/receivable, collections, vendor payments, client/tenant statements, landlord payments and payroll.
    • Maintain accounting files for accounts payable/receivable, collections, and/or payroll.
    • Participates in the annual audits.
    • Responds to requests for information from outside agencies including collection agency, landlords, tenants, outside vendors and co-workers.
    • Performs special accounting tasks and assignments under the direction of the Director of Finance.

    WHAT IS NEEDED?

    The minimum qualifications needed for this position are:

    • A high school diploma or equivalent.
    • A minimum of two (2) years of high-volume accounts payable experience utilizing an automated financial management system. Government accounts payable experience is highly desirable.
    • Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by Human Resources.
