- Conduct research and interpret facts and laws related to intricate problems and situations, focusing on litigation, including the defense of complex medical malpractice actions.
- Review and analyze medical records to develop a robust litigation defense strategy.
- Research and prepare memoranda on various legal issues.
- Draft correspondence in response to inquiries from clients, attorneys, judges, officials, and agencies.
- Draft and respond to written discovery.
- Represent the client in legal proceedings, including court appearances, administrative hearings, depositions, and meetings.
- Prepare and enter daily time entries.
- 3-5 years of experience in litigation, with a preference for candidates with medical malpractice litigation experience and immediately transferrable skills.
- Law degree from an accredited law school with admission to the New Jersey Bar; additional Bar admissions are a plus.
- Trial experience is a strong plus.
- Clear and effective communication skills, both oral and written, with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, efficiently, and establish work priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work professionally with court officials, judges, attorneys, and the general public, maintaining effective working relationships.
- Comfortable working within established systems and processes, collaborating extensively with other attorneys, paralegals, and office staff.
- Proven ability to generate new clients through individual and firm-wide networking and marketing efforts.
- Comfortable with client meetings and public speaking.
- Self-motivated and entrepreneurial spirit.
- Commitment to maintaining a high level of proficiency in the most current and advanced legal techniques.
