- Must be familiar with the operation, design, and maintenance of all mechanical equipment in a research facility, including, but not limited to, pumps, fans, compressors, gearboxes, mixers/agitators, and other rotating equipment.
- Must demonstrate a commitment to safety, as demonstrated by experience leading or participating in company safety committees or other safety-related activities.
- Must participate in continuing site improvement activities and compliance with the site safety program.
- Works within capital and fixed budget guidelines on all projects and utilizes cost control measures where necessary.
- Work with maintenance subcontractors.
- Set up and operated basic shop equipment.
- Conduct preventative maintenance duties on equipment and facility.
- Maintain spare parts inventory for the Research Center equipment.
- Read and understand material safety data sheets before working around hazardous materials.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the department.
- A High School Diploma, GED or relevant trade experience.
- 3-5 years experience in a commercial/industrial environment.
- Experience with Mechanical Systems. (e.g. motors, pumps, boilers, HVAC systems).
- Well-versed in plant process engineering, trouble-shooting and problem-solving techniques, engineering standards,
- Individual must be able to respond appropriately during site emergencies as directed by the Site Emergency Manager.
- Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, and equipment manuals.
- Must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment if required to work or visit within any areas of the site that require such PPE. This may include hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes, or other equipment as required by the work performed and the location of the work.
- Ability to interface well with employees throughout the Research Center, including scientists, lab technicians, and any contractors who may be on site.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work outdoors.
- Must be able to work off hours and weekends when required.
- Forklift driving and certification are a plus.
- High Hazard training.
- Electrical experience.
- Welding ability is a plus.
- Sheet metal fabrication experience.
- Microsoft Office familiarization.
