    Position Overview:


    The Communications Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and management of electronic systems, fiber optic/microwave networks, radio networks, and advanced communication and alarm systems within transit environments.

    The ideal candidate will have a strong background in telecommunications engineering, with expertise in both hardware and software aspects of communication systems.


    Key Responsibilities:
    Design and develop communication systems tailored to transit environments, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and scalability.
    Conduct site surveys and assessments to determine the optimal placement and configuration of communication equipment.
    Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project managers, field technicians, and other engineers to ensure successful implementation of communication solutions.

    Manage the installation, configuration, and testing of fiber optic, microwave, and radio networks, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

    Perform troubleshooting and maintenance activities to address technical issues and ensure uninterrupted operation of communication systems.
    Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams and external stakeholders on communication-related matters.
    Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend innovative solutions and improvements.
    Participate in project planning and budgeting activities, ensuring timely completion and cost-effective implementation of communication projects.
    Document system designs, configurations, and procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and future maintenance efforts.
    Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for oneself and others.


    Qualifications:
    Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or related field.
    Professional Engineer preferred.

    5 Years of experience in designing and managing electronic systems, fiber optic/microwave networks, radio networks, and advanced communication and alarm systems, preferably in transit environments.

    Proficiency in CAD software for designing communication systems and layouts.
    Strong knowledge of telecommunications principles, protocols, and standards (e.g., TCP/IP, SIP, SNMP).
    Experience with hardware and software integration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
    Familiarity with transit-specific communication technologies and requirements (e.g., Positive Train Control, SCADA systems) is highly desirable.
    Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
    Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks according to deadlines and business needs.
    Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits and project deployments.
