  • Position is located at Parsons State Hospital & Training Center, 8:00a-5:00p, days/hours will vary and will include weekend, holiday and call ins. A negative drug screen is required as a condition of employment.

    The Program Coordinator supervises a diverse group of staff across three shifts to assure protection of resident rights is provided in a humane, home-like environment. The Program Coordinator must be available for a varied work schedule which at times may include days, evenings, nights, weekends or holidays. The Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and prioritizing the delivery of training and person-centered services with individuals living at PSH. This involves the integrations of various aspects of services to meet the individual requests, preferences and needs of each individual living in a designated unit. Accurate records must be maintained to assure the varied responsibilities of this position are met.

    Review and evaluation of each of the tasks listed below is performed formally at least once a year by the Public Service Executive II against ICF/MR standards, agency policies and procedures and consumer satisfaction. Additional sources of information contributing to performance review of these tasks might include annual surveys by State ICF/MR reviewers, periodic reviews by Human Rights and other committees; direct observation; data review and feedback from residents, parents/guardians, staff, visitors or other individuals with information pertinent to the operations of PSHTC.

    Parsons State Hospital is funded in part by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is subject to requirements bestowed by Federal and State levels of government conditions of participation.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum Criteria: One year of experience in planning, organizing and directing the work of a department, program or agency. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. ICF/MR regulations mandate the persons in this position must possess a R.N.; a bachelor's degree in human service field and at least one year experience working directly with persons with mental retardation or other developmental disabilities. Experiencing, developing and implementing person centered planning (e.g. Essential Lifestyle Plans, support model) services. Experience in leadership, supervision or advocacy for people with disabilities

    Staff who operates a motor vehicle must possess a valid Kansas driver's license.

    Positions in this class require that at the time of appointment the selected candidate must take and pass a drug screening test approved by the Division of Personnel Services. Persons hired must also pass a law enforcement security clearance in compliance with policies of the Department of Aging and DisabilityServices.
