    Conemaugh Miners Medical Center is seeking an hourly Secretary for the Radiology department who will performs a variety of clerical activities to assist in department operations. Greets patients as they arrive in the department. Schedules and orders exams in EPIC. Responsible for obtaining and verifying patient insurance information during the scheduling process. Needs excellent service skills to deal with patients and physician offices. These functions are performed in accordance with the facility's philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards.

    Essential Responsibilities:

    Answers phone makes appointments and relays messages.

    Schedules patients for exams

    Knowledge of patient preps

    Knowledge of CPT codes

    Knowledge of the authorization process

    Operates copy and fax machines.

    Transfers information from one record to the department computer system (ordering exams).

    Faxes reports to requesting departments and offices.

    Greets patients and families as they arrive.

    Reschedules No Show/ Cancellation Patients

    Mails reports to physician's offices.

    Forwards radiologist daily call schedule

    Gets ready and sends out release of film requests.

    Burns discs.

    Assists the radiologist with computer issues, finding physicians, etc.

    Maintains inventory of supplies, forms, and schedules.

    Takes minutes at staff meetings and radiation safety meetings.

    Type's letters and reports for supervisory staff.

    Purges yearly film destruction.

    Assists with the Mammography paperwork.

    Maintains current list of referral physicians.

    Maintains confidentiality standards in dealing with all patients.

    Knowledge of PACS and EPIC.

    Assists in quality control projects.

    Assists in care and cleanliness of department and equipment.

    Recommends supply needs to the manager.

    Maintains ethical relationships with professionals, non-professionals, co-workers, and patients.

    Attends all in-service meetings as assigned and completes all items assigned in Life Talent.

    Adheres to work schedules as developed by the manager.

    Complies with fire, safety, and disaster plans.

    Must be available to work a rotating shift, provide weekend coverage.

    Transport patients from other areas to the radiology department and back.

    Knowledge of CPR.

    Troubleshoots equipment problem.

    Contacts IT with computer issues.

    Other Responsibilities:
    All other responsibilities as assigned in accordance with qualifications.

    Job Qualifications:

    Education

    Required: High school graduate with a business course curriculum. Medical terminology.

    Preferred: Graduate from a medical secretarial school or advanced medical secretarial program.

    Experience:
    Required: Knowledge in computer skills, Excel, and Word.

    Certification/Licensure/Registration:
    N/A.

    Skills and Abilities:
    Ability to meet patient age-specific and emotional needs.
    Ability to professionally communicate with patient, physicians, and fellow employees.
    Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
    Ability to learn quickly as technology/ insurance requirements change.
    Ability to be a team member.
