Digital Design Engineer – AI Hardware (Hybrid, Irvine, CA)
$160k base + 10% bonus + RSUs
Edison Smart is partnered with a semiconductor company developing advanced AI hardware is seeking a Digital Design Engineer to join its Hardware Development team. This role involves owning digital modules from product specification through microarchitecture, RTL implementation, verification, and tape-out or FPGA release.
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate product requirements into scalable microarchitectures
- Design and implement embedded CPUs (RISC-V preferred) in host or co-processor roles
- Develop RTL in Verilog/SystemVerilog
- Support FPGA bring-up and system-level validation
- Perform RTL and gate-level simulation
- Contribute to verification planning and documentation
Requirements:
- BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 3+ years of digital logic design experience
- Experience with embedded MPU design (RISC-V strongly preferred)
- Strong understanding of modern compute architectures
- Familiarity with AXI/AHB/APB and SoC components (SRAM-based systems)
- Experience with SPI, I2C, PCIe, USB, DDR is a plus
- Python or shell scripting skills preferred
- Experience with industry-standard simulation and debug tools (e.g., VCS, Verdi)
