    ASL Programs Per Diem Educator



    The ASL Programs Per Diem Educator works within Access Programs to facilitate interactive inquiry-based and lecture-based tours in American Sign Language for the Education Department in a freelance capacity. The ideal candidate is someone who is experienced discussing and presenting art to adult audiences and who possesses a strong background in art history, studio art, and/or museum teaching. Availability to teach both Sunday and weekday programs is preferred. This position has the potential to work with family groups and other audiences, based on interest.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and lead gallery tours and virtual tours for adult groups in American Sign Language.
    • Participate in training sessions, lectures, and walkthroughs in conjunction with temporary and collection exhibitions


    Requirements:

    • Fluent in American Sign Language
    • Bachelor's Degree preferred; Fields of study include Fine Art, Art History, Museum Education, Art Education, or Museum Studies, or equivalent experience
    • Previous teaching experience in a museum setting preferred
    • A flexible schedule, with both Sunday and weekday evening availability preferred

    Salary, based off type of meeting/program:

    Meeting/Training/Prep: $45/hour; Tours and Workshops: $260/program
