    Athletic Trainer

    Position Summary: Convent & Stuart Hall is seeking excellent candidates for the role of Athletic Trainer.The Athletic Trainer works under the direct supervision of the Director of Athletics and Head of Physical Education and is expected to provide the necessary leadership to plan, organize, and be responsible for a comprehensive sports medicine program that will meet the objectives of Convent & Stuart Hall's 4-12th grade athletics program. The Athletic Trainer is responsible for working with student-athletes, parents, coaches and doctors in designing and implementing year-round injury assessment, prevention and management, treatment, and rehabilitation programs for student-athletes. The Athletic Trainer is expected to be a positive role model and is expected to maintain effective communication with athletes, school administration, staff, students, parents and the community. The Athletic Trainer must be board certified.

    Athletic Training Responsibilities
    • INJURY PREVENTION - Use preventative measures to help student-athletes avoid injuries.
    • TREAT INJURIES - Treat and manage athletic injuries.
    • REFER TO SPECIALIST - Recognize when an injured student-athlete should be referred to a specialist and shall advise both the student-athlete and his/her parents of this.
    • THERAPY AND REHABILITATION - Manage therapy and rehabilitation of injured student-athletes as they return to athletic activities.
    • PRESENCE AT COMPETITIONS AND PRACTICES - Factors which shall determine the priority of the presence Athletic Trainer shall include home events, the nature of the sport and the risk of injury in that sport, the level of the teams playing, and equalizing time between boys' and girls' athletic events. Will also attend to the needs of visiting team players and coaches at all home athletic contests. Should an emergency occur at the facility the ATC is supervising, the ATC will then respond to the injured/ill patron as a first responder.
    • PROVIDE MEDICAL SUPPLIES TO TEAMS - Provide each team with necessary medical supplies for off-campus events and manage first aid kit check out.
    • ATHLETIC TRAINING ROOM SCHEDULE AND PROCEDURES - At the beginning of each season, the Athletic Trainer will meet with respective coaches to explain Athletic Training Room procedures and attend all preseason meetings to review these procedures with parents and students.
    • CONCUSSION MANAGEMENT PROGRAM - The Athletic Trainer will oversee all aspects of the Concussion Management program and Convent & Stuart Hall's relationship with UCSF. The ATC is responsible for documenting injuries, communicating directly with the parents and student-athletes on medical information, and communicating with the appropriate school administration on injury notification and protocol.They will be the point person in communicating necessary information to and from UCSF, family physicians, students, parents, and school community.
    • BUDGET AND INVENTORY - The Athletic Trainer shall keep an inventory of supplies for the Athletic Training program and work in conjunction with the Athletic Director to develop a plan for necessary athletic training supplies.
    • PURCHASE SUPPLIES - The Athletic Trainer shall purchase supplies as agreed upon with the DIrector of Athletics.
    • ATHLETIC TRAINING ROOM(S) - The Athletic Trainer will oversee the Athletic Training Rooms, maintaining a professional appearance for both spaces.
    • WORK SCHEDULE - The Athletic Trainer's work schedule is a 12-month position. On days when classes are in session, the Athletic Trainer shall be in the Athletic Training Office from 10AM-until the completion of the day's duties. This schedule may be adjusted to accommodate needs for contests and practice schedules.
    • MEDICAL CLEARANCE FORMS AND PARENTAL PERMISSION TO PLAY -The Athletic Trainer is responsible for maintaining the database of the CIF PPE Medical Clearance and Liability Waivers through the use of the PPE Google From and Blackbaud and will provide emergency contact information to the appropriate coaches for their student-athletes.
    • ASSIST ATHLETIC DIRECTOR - The Athletic Trainer will assist the Athletic Director with other tasks and responsibilities as required by the Athletic Director.
    • MANAGE the ASSISTANT ATHLETIC TRAINER - This position will oversee the part time ATC from UCSF and work to ensure that all necessary contests, practices, and events are covered. May have additional supervisory responsibilities.
    Administrative Responsibilities:
    • Set and uphold expectations with the coaching staff.
    • Attend high school events that pertain to athletics (ie. Open houses, admission interviews, parent & coaches' meetings).
    • Manage and oversee game day operations for assigned sports.
    • Establish positive relationship with the parents at Convent & Stuart Hall.
    • Know the off-season training schedule of the High School Athletic programs.
    • Know the high school program's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges.
    • May be required to teach a section within a science department Athletic Training Course.
    • Maybe required to carry out other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
    Qualifications
    • Requires BA/BS degree. Masters degree and/or credential is strongly preferred.
    • Requires an ATC Certification.
    • Prior Athletic experience strongly preferred.
    • Excellent writing, communication and grammar skills.
    • Requires demonstrated experience using a wide range of instructional technology tools. Direct experience using iPads, laptops, and Google Apps strongly preferred.
    • Must be detail-oriented, organized and willing to take initiative.
    • Must have excellent teamwork skills.
    • Requires the ability to work well with children and adults.
    • Must be a role model in embracing and living out the Schools' mission, goals and criteria.
    • Experience with independent schools is preferred.
    Physical Requirements:
