We are looking for a Merchandising Assistant to join our great team

    The Merchandising Assistant supports the merchants in the discovery, selection, and purchasing of merchandise for the catalog and website. Responsibilities include data entry and data management, inventory procurement and management, and communication between departments and with vendors.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support buying team confirming pricing, stock levels, reserves and delivery
    • Work with merchandising analytics and merchants to determine buy plan by category, price point and other key metrics
    • Place initial purchase orders as directed by merchants
    • Communicate directly with vendors regarding purchase order fulfillment and monitor delivery dates
    • Set up new vendors and new items in databases and update as needed
    • Maintain accurate database and line list
    • Upload line list to Team Base asset management system
    • Obtain & review samples
    • Work with vendors and creative services team to provide product images
    • Proof catalog, web site, and emails for accuracy and product availability
    • Communicate relevant information with cross-functional departments including creative services, marketing, e-commerce, inventory planning, warehouse, and accounting
    • Review sales, back order, and overstock reports. Make recommendations on product disposition, update pricing and inventory codes
    • Electronically mark books with sales results
    • Work with merchants, marketing and ecommerce to create compelling campaigns
    • Prepare seasonal reviews and post-mortem documents as requested
    • Monitor competitor catalogs and web sites and relay pertinent information to merchant
    • Perform other duties as assigned
    • Bachelors' degree or equivalent experience preferred
    • Must be highly organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks
    • Most be accurate and detail oriented
    • Must possess a solid understanding of MS Excel and spread sheet maintenance
    • Strong telephone, email communication skills and interpersonal skills
    • Fair but strong negotiation skills
    • Exceptional grammar and spelling. Writing skills a plus
    • Genuine interest in direct merchandising, gifting industry, retail
    • Must work well as part of a team and willing to pitch in wherever needed
    • Must be comfortable with tight deadlines and shifting priorities
    • Great work ethic and positive attitude
