    Description

    Overview:
    Accountable for operational issues with patients, families, nursing staff and physicians, between departments and with outside agencies. Provides on-site problem solving for incidents, notifying/involving administrators and leadership as indicated. Represents nursing administration and facility administration during their absence.

    Nursing Responsibilities:
    Acts as a clinical resource and reports changes in resident condition to next shift coordinator

    Collaborates with nursing leadership to accomplish department/program objectives

    Demonstrates personal accountability. Maintains and shares knowledge of clinical/managerial practice, issues, trends and technology. Participates in and provides leadership for meetings, task forces and committees; completes assignments per/ahead of schedule. Provides Staff Education when directed. Directs and leads staff to focus on and achieve patient satisfaction. Demonstrates appropriate use of universal precautions and personal protective equipment. Demonstrates relevant department competencies. Maintains current licensure.

    Provides direct patient care in select patient situations

    Provides leadership for and personally demonstrates Cone Health values of integrity, outstanding services, innovative climate, caring spirit and financial viability

    Serves as a resource for decisions on patient placement. Works with department nurses and social services to accommodate admissions and transfers

    Serves as a resource for decisions on staffing utilization. Consults on patient assignments and staff utilization. Floats staff between units. Documents and performs corrective actions as needed

    Serves as a resource on operational issues. Provides interpretation and information regarding policies and procedures, including personnel processes. Directs staff to potential resource/equipment resources within the hospital system or community. Coordinates nursing services and personnel in managing disasters, fire, in facility emergencies. Responds to media and law enforcement inquiries appropriately. Serves as a resource to caregivers regarding ethical dilemmas, new procedures and chain of command interventions. Assists Director of Nursing with managing budget for each cost center as directed. Participate in employee performance appraisals and action plans as directed.

    Serves as a resource to their departments in the absence of their management to assure delivery of patient

    Serves as the representative of facility administration in their absence and as a consultant to nursing staff and other facility employees.

    Qualifications:

    EDUCATION:
    Required:
    Graduate of RN Education Program; A

    DN, Diploma or Certificate
    EXPERIENCE:

    Required:
    3 years or more RN clinical experience in a hospital or long term care setting.

    Preferred:
    Previous leadership experience desired. Long term care experience.


    LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:



    REQUIRED
    BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
    Valid Driver's License | Valid Driver's License

    Required:
    Current North Carolina Registered Nurse License.
