    Building Maintenance Supervisor Summary:
    Under basic supervision, performs duties of a professional electrician, including installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of electrical equipment, components, and electrical systems; recognizes abnormal conditions and solves electrical problems

    Essential Functions:
    Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:Repairs maintains, and replaces electrical components in accordance with BSD) work orders, equipment specifications, and state technical codes; makes appropriate decisions based on work experience.
    Installs, inspects, maintains, and repairs electrical equipment, components, controls, and specialty systems.

    Evaluate work orders and identify materials and equipment required; perform maintenance and repairs within the scope of authority and in accordance with all safety regulations and BSD procedures; notify supervisor of safety hazards, equipment problems, and emergency situations.

    Supports departmental operations with regular and timely attendanceMust have and maintain a cell phone for City use to hold this position.

    Supports the relationship between the City of Odessa and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:
    High school diploma or GED equivalent.
    Five (5) years experience as an electrician and completion of an electrician apprenticeship program.


    Knowledge of:
    City safety rules and regulations, occupational hazards, and safety precautions.
    National Electrical Code and other applicable local and state regulations and codes.
    Methods, equipment, and tools used in installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems.


    Skill in:
    Operating and maintaining tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner.
    Troubleshooting, repairing, replacing, and maintaining electrical equipment and components.
    Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers.
    Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.


    License and certification requirements:
    A valid Texas State Driver's License is required; a Journeyman Electrician license from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation is required; additional specific training and certifications may be required for some incumbents

    Physical demands and working environment:

    Work is performed in City facilities; requires the ability to bend, reach, and lift objects; may be exposed to safety hazards and dangerous tools and equipment; requires vision capacity to differentiate between colored wires.

    City-approved safety shoes must be worn.
