- Diagnoses mechanical, electrical, air and hydraulic problems in the asphalt plants and to identify and perform necessary repairs, i.e., Astec, Heatec, Stansteel, Cummins, & other associated equipment used at the asphalt plants.
- Diagnoses and performs emergency repairs on plant and associated equipment.
- Alert Management of potential problems with plants or equipment which could impact production and plant longevity. Advise when replacement parts are needed.
- Update management on job status, potential delays with repairs and any safety issues.
- Utilize company resources including parts, supplies, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Complete assigned tasks as quickly as possible to achieve maximum plant production
- Prepares legible written reports and records as directed by supervisor.
- Complies with all OSHA and MSHA regulations, Company hazard and safety regulations, and pertinent DOT regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned. May be required to perform or assist with repairs on rolling stock equipment and facilities as needed/qualified.
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- 5 - 10 years' experience in asphalt plant repairs, heavy equipment repair in a mine or similar relevant heavy industrial experience.
- MSHA certified or previous miner
- Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics to practical situations.
- Able to read and understand parts/service/instruction manuals. Submit accurate parts requisition forms.
- Able to read hydraulic/electrical/plant schematics for heavy equipment and plant equipment.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret job requirements, technical procedures, government regulations; ability to write reports, present information, communicate with customers and vendors.
- Able to work in outdoor conditions with varying temperatures and weather. Also, able to work around constant or intermittent noise at levels which will need hearing protection.
- Provide mechanics hand tools and sufficient tooling to perform repairs and adjustments on large mobile equipment.
- Knowledge of basic electrical functions, plumbing, welding/ cutting, belts and bearings.
- Ability to use hand and pneumatic tools, welder, torches, forklift, and loader.
- Valid driver's license and favorable traffic abstract; CDL REQUIRED
- Good organizational skills. Must be a team player, work in unison with peers and management.
- Attends training classes to maintain certifications (i.e., welding, crane, MSHA, aerial platforms, & forklifts) and acquire new skills in plant, equipment technology.
- Crane operator, Rigging, and Welding (AWS D1.1 SMAW 3G&4G Combo Welding) certifications preferred.
- Support managements operational decisions on deadlines and budgetary limitations
