Could you be the full-time General Manager in Jersey City, NJ we're looking for? Your future role Take on a new challenge and apply your operations and management expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You'll report to Joshua Booker (General Manager- Standardization and Operational Support) , and work alongside exceptional, enthusiastic and collaborative teammates. You'll specifically be responsible for all aspects of day-to-day operation for commuter railroad including: Operations, Dispatching, Maintenance Of Facilities, Maintenance of Way, Maintenance of Signalling and equipment. Position organizes team to function at high level and ensure excellent customer service. Position also has control of P&L at site level and ensure excellent customer service.
    • Serves as Contractor's liaison with the Authority primarily its Contract Manager and must be available to attend Authority Board meetings on a regular basis when required.
    • Must attend a weekly (or sometimes daily) service performance review meeting with Authority staff and additionally be available at other reasonable times to consult with representatives of the Authority.
    • Responsible for the performance of all Key Management Personnel, as well as subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
    • Manage Asst. General Manager direct reports, who in-turn oversee management, technical, administrative, and exempt staff and who in turn oversee and manage approximately rail maintenance and operations, craft employees working under multiple collective bargaining agreements.
    • Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors so their presence is largely transparent to the Authority.
    • Safety, Contract Administration, Daily Train Operations, Equipment Maintenance, Facilities, Workforce Training, and maintenance, Information Technology Systems, on-call Work Directives and Customer Experience.
    • Ensure safe, efficient, on-time performance, personnel, and equipment availability and a "customer first" service.

    • Bachelor's Degree in Transportation, Business Administration, Engineering, Construction, or related field-or equivalent experience
    • 10 years of broad and deep, progressively responsible experience covering most facets of rail operations, maintenance, engineering, contract, and project management. At least five years of managing an electric light rail, commuter rail, streetcar, trolley, or transit systems with PTA
    • Prior experience that demonstrates accomplishments that enhanced safety, efficiency, reliability, customer service and stakeholder satisfaction thru proactive management and leadership of staff, subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors in a Public Environment. Extensive knowledge of FTA, CPUC and other State and local regulations related to the operations and maintenance and deep understanding of labor relations in a collective bargaining environment.
