General Summary of PositionAbout MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's General Medicine/Telemetry Unit - 5 Bles
5 Bles is a 20 Bed Medical Telemetry unit designed to provide specialized care for patients who are in need of continuous cardiac monitoring and complex medical nursing care. Nurses provide care for a diverse patient population with a wide range of healthcare requirements, including behavioral health diagnoses. Our entire staff is committed to the MedStar Georgetown mission of cura personalis, caring for the whole person. The 5 Bles nurses are supported with educational and specialty certification training opportunities. Professional development initiatives and leadership support empower nurses to become active and respected participants within the inter-professional team that provides evidence based, compassionate care to our patients.
Representatives from 5 Bles also led the implementation of the Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders (NICHE) Program. After a pilot on two medical units, it was expanded throughout the Division of Nursing.
Schedule:
Professional care provider who assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the nursing care of patients from admission through discharge. In collaboration with the patient and family, provides theory-based professional nursing care and coordinates care delivery with various members of the interdisciplinary team.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. Associates degree from an accredited School of nursing required. BSN enrollment required within 6 months of start date and completion within 3 years.
Experience: 1 year of RN experience required.
License/Certifications: DC Registered Nurse License required; CPR (Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation) required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Basic math skills. Verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills required.
