    Gibbs & Cox, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, has an opening for an entry level mechanical or marine engineer to work in the Machinery Department. Gibbs and Cox is the largest independent naval architecture and marine engineering firm in the United States. We support military and commercial clients in the U.S. and internationally with all phases of marine design, construction, and lifecycle management. As a member of the Machinery Department engineering team, you will be directly involved in the mechanical engineering (propulsion, auxiliary systems, etc.) design effort on multiple ship platforms and projects.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Works independently, or on project teams
    • Able to manage schedule and technical product development for small, focused tasks.
    • Perform calculations applying mechanical engineering principles, techniques, procedures, and criteria.
    • Develop engineering tools to assist in future design efforts.
    • Performs and prepares quality assurance reviews of simple analyses, calculations, engineering reports, and drawings.
    • Perform engineering and sizing of propulsions systems, auxiliary machinery piping systems, and arrangement drawing for early ship concept design phases.
    • Interfaces with client at peer level.
    • Direct interface with design leads.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering
    • U.S. Citizenship and must be eligible to obtain security clearance

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with marine/ship piping systems design and engineering
    • Proficiency in using industry-standard mechanical system design and analysis software tools
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD or other CAD type software in 2D and 3D

    Pay Range:

    Pay Range $53, $97,525.00
