    Summary


    The Senior Accountant I, under the supervision of the Accounting Manager, will contribute to the Accounting Departments mission of providing accurate and timely financial reporting of the Companys financial position and overall operations.

    This includes assisting the Accounting Department with various day-to-day accounting duties, month-end close, and general financial analysis and reporting.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    Assist in monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process including preparation and maintenance of account reconciliations.
    Assist with fixed asset accounting process including job costing, capitalization of assets, and recording of associated depreciation.
    Perform various accounting tasks associated with posting of accounts payable, payroll, credit card transactions, and property tax renditions/reporting.
    Develop, support, and record monthly general journal entries.
    Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting, as assigned.
    Assist and lead special departmental improvement projects, as assigned.
    Assist with internal and external customer financial inquiries, including auditors, consultants, and vendors.

    Qualifications

    Education & Experience

    Bachelors degree in accounting.
    At least three (3) years of related experience. Regulated utility industry experience is a plus.
    Knowledge of GAAP accounting, taxation, budgeting, and cost control principles.
    Demonstrate attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and discretion with confidential information.
    Have a flexible work attitude and ability to successfully manage changing priorities.

    Language/Math/Reasoning Ability

    Possess strong analytical and research skills, ability to multitask, and work in a deadline-driven environment. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations as well as have ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

    Ability to interact and use communication skills effectively with all levels of the organization, as well as with external auditors, clients, and vendors.

    Computer Skills

    Proficient computer skills, including electronic mail and experience with basic accounting and financial analysis software.
    Microsoft Office Suite Including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
    Microsoft Dynamics GP, a plus.

    Physical Requirements

    Ability to see 20-20 when corrected.
    Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a clerical nature.
    Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers.

    Working Environment

    Well-lighted, heated, and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.

    Moderate noise (examples:
    business office with computers and printers, light traffic).

    Regular work schedule:
    Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m.

    5:00 p.m.
    No overnight travel by land and/or air
