About the role and what you will be doing:

As a Mainframe Modernization Solution Architect at Ensono, you will work with clients to identify and address technology gaps, strategic goals, and business imperatives for clients with mainframe applications and data architectures. You will suggest new technologies or approaches to address client needs and develop solutions that leverage Ensonos AI-based solution of ExperThink TM plus Ensonos Modern Cloud Connected Mainframe.

You will lead Ensono projects from SOW generation through the assessment phase and support the pilot phase to confirm the solution architecture and design. You will propose solutions to help modernize mainframe applications on or off the mainframe, as well as to hybrid environments. You will work with customers of all sizes and develop solutions to accelerate their Modern Cloud Connected Mainframe or Cloud journey.

You will operate as a trusted advisor, ensuring customers get the most out of every stage of their journey. The role requires creativity to link technology to tangible solutions, with the opportunity to define cloud native as well as mainframe cloud hybrid reference architectures for a variety of use cases. You will work closely with our Renovation Center developer team, software language architects, and data architects to analyze customers applications and help determine the right future state solution design and target architecture.

Responsibilities:

• Facilitate customer conversations on Mainframe Application and Data Modernization.
• Design innovative solutions for modernizing, migrating, and connecting mainframes to the cloud.
• Guide customers to achieve business value through modernization strategies and best practices.
• Conduct planning sessions and demos of Ensonos ExperThink TM
• Lead the assessment and strategy process.
• Collaborate with Sales to create Solution Design and Application Modernization SOWs.
• Support the Proof-of-Concept (POC) and Proof-of-Translation (POT) process with the Renovation COE.
• Create technical assets and reference architectures for sales and partners.
• Support the technical relationship between the cloud service provider and or the MFaaS/MCCM (Modern Cloud Connected Mainframe) provider with the customers, making recommendations on security, cost, performance, reliability, optimization, and operational efficiency.
• Your responsibilities will require experience in multiple databases (e.g. DB2, IMS, VSAM) and languages (e.g. Java, C#, COBOL, SQL, JCL) plus cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP.

What You Will Need:

• More than 10 years of experience in Managed Services or Consulting for Mainframe Systems.
• At least 5 years of Consulting on Mainframe Modernization projects.
• Over 3 years of leading or managing transformation projects using Cloud solutions.
• Previous experience in Statements of Work creation for Mainframe or Cloud solutions.
• IBM Mainframe and Public Cloud Certification or equivalent experience.
• Outstanding skills in managing and influencing people.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; including handling challenging Client or Associate Communications in high-pressure situations.
• Ability to mentor and coach others on technical and professional aspects.
• Ability to create and execute long-term strategic plans and roadmaps.
• Degree in computer science, information science/technology or a related field. Masters preferred.
• Certifications and experience in data modeling, database design, and data query development.

Technology skills you will need or need to learn for the role:

• IBM Mainframe: You need to have previous working knowledge of IBM mainframe systems, such as Z/OS, TSO, VSAM, DB2, CICS, JCL, etc.
• Mainframe Modernization solutions/tooling: You need to know how to modernize mainframe applications using solutions and tools such as Refactoring, Rehosting, Integration, etc.
• Mainframe Languages: You need to know of these mainframe languages and have programming experience in at least one: Java, COBOL, PL/I, CA-ADS/O, CA-IDEAL, Natural, CA-EASYTRIEVE.
• Mainframe Databases and File Systems: You need to know of these mainframe databases and file systems and have worked with at least one: DB2, IDMS, VSAM, IMS, Datacom, Adabas.
• Development environments: You need to have previous working knowledge of how to code and maintain software using development environments such as TSO/ISPF, Eclipse or Visual Studio etc.
• Cloud platforms: You need certification in at least one cloud platform such as Azure, AWS, GCP.
• Methodologies: You need to have working knowledge of Agile, SDLC and DevOps.
