    Description


    Red Cedar TG is seeking a dynamic, proactive, and self-starting Apprentice Telecommunications Specialist to join our team in the greater San Antonio, TX market.

    Responsibilities

    Installs, terminates, labels, tests and troubleshoots voice, data, and fiber optic premise and campus distribution systems including but not limited to Cat6, Cat6e, RG6 coax, and single and multi-mode fiber.

    Provides interior and campus copper and fiber optic cable plant installation support and network hardware installation support.
    Installs cable support systems such as cable trays, ladder racks, J-hooks, and D-rings. Builds out, dresses, and locks down racks and patch panels.
    Performs work in communications closets, manholes, and handholes as required.
    Trenches and install direct buried cable and conduit as required.
    All other work as assigned.
    Works as team member under supervision.
    Follows safety practices and effective use of time and material resources.

    Required
    Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance at the Secret level.
    Ability to provide thorough, complete, and concise technical documentation.
    Initiative to remain up-to-date with industry trends.
    Capacity to make quick decisions when faced with issues like outages or backups.
    Occasionally lift heavy objects, ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces.
    Must be able to identify the colors inside copper telecommunication cables.
    Exceptional diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    Willingness to travel in/out of work state and work on the weekends.
    Valid driver's license

    Desired
    BICSI Installer 1 (INST1) certification.
    Experience installing, splicing, and terminating fiber and copper cable.
    Experience installing, splicing, and terminating specifically Duraline fiber optic cable a plus.
    Experience installing, splicing, and terminating specifically CommScope materials.
    Cable experience in hospitals and/or military base/post.
    Experience using trenching equipment.
    Ideal candidate has experience with federal/government environment as a contractor or enlisted/civil service.
