- Safe Handling and/or moving material.
- Knowledge of the Excavator/Magnet/Grapple/Loader loading requirements; material shipping specifications; weight thresholds.
- Effective communication with all site personnel.
- Maintain daily logs of equipment usage, maintenance, etc.
- Daily maintenance of equipment.
- Identify, report, correct and/or prevent hazards.
- Perform tasks maintaining all health, safety and environmental rules and ensure work is completed in a safe and responsible manner.
- Ability to sit for long periods.
- Handle and manipulate objects on a repetitive basis.
- Ability to see well and distinguish between back up alarms, voices and typical sounds.
- Ensure others around you are aware of your whereabouts.
- Work outside in the elements regardless of the season.
- Personal protective equipment required: High visibility clothing, hard hat, hearing /eye protection, foot protection (steel toe boots).
- Work assigned schedule.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Heavy equipment certification a plus.
- 2 plus years of heavy equipment operation experience.
- Organizational skills, able to multi-task.
- Self-motivated, ability to work independently.

JOB TITLE: Heavy Equipment Operator.REPORTS TO: Operations Manager.
JOB TYPE: Full-time, Non-Exempt
LOCATION: Buffalo Shredding & Recovery (3175 Lake Shore Road, Blasdell, NY
HOURS: Monday - Friday 7:00am-3:30pm, or 7:30am - 4:00pm.
COMPENSATION: $17-18/hr, based on experience and skills.
