- Electrical Expertise: Provide electrical engineering and project management across all projects, repairs, and preventative maintenance. Gain increasing responsibility as you grow your experience.
- Technical Liaison: Act as a technical interface with vendors regarding equipment and facility designs, as well as product applications.
- Operations Support: Offer technical expertise to operations personnel whenever needed.
- Safety Focus: Ensure all electrical installations, repairs, and preventative maintenance are completed safely and adhere to regulations.
- Power Management: Coordinate with major power providers on electrical distribution and supply system issues.
- Oversee Electrical Aspects: Manage the electrical portion of projects throughout all stages, including planning, design, construction, and maintenance.
- Project Input: Provide electrical expertise for plant design, modifications, construction, and other structures. This includes estimates, schedules, electrical drawings, functional descriptions, and other necessary project documentation.
- Collaboration: Assist internal and external electrical engineers in planning and designing electrical and automation systems, including establishing equipment selection criteria.
- Plant Efficiency: Offer internal consulting services to plant management regarding automation system application and use to optimize production and minimize costs.
- Troubleshooting Expertise: Provide guidance and advice for troubleshooting electrical issues within the plant.
- Needs Assessment: Evaluate project needs and available internal resources. Coordinate with external contractors as necessary.
- Knowledge Transfer: Mentor and instruct regional electrical staff to ensure they follow safe and best practices in every aspect of electrical systems, including design, construction, and testing.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience. Continuing education in business-related fields is a plus.
- Experience: 5-10 years of electrical experience in mining, heavy industrial, utility, or a related field. Prior experience designing and managing construction projects for various power distribution systems (overhead and underground) is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Experience with PLCs, soft starts, VFDs, power system analysis software (PTW, ETAP), and motor control system design is a plus. Experience hiring and supervising electrical contractors, managing electrical projects of all sizes, and leading union/non-union employees is preferred.
- Software Skills: Advanced proficiency in computer programs like Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and AutoCAD.
- Industry Knowledge: (Preferred) Familiarity with mine production techniques and equipment.
- Safety & Regulations: Strong understanding and application of safety and environmental regulations (NEC, NESC, MSHA, and OSHA). Knowledge of company safety, health, and environmental policies is essential.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to plan and manage effectively, prioritize, and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously. Strong relationship-building skills with all employee levels, internal and external stakeholders.
