    TITLE: School Psychologist

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Holds a valid Kentucky certificate for School Psychologist
    2. Holds a Master's Degree in Psychology
    3. Has experience in diagnosing, evaluating and counseling
    4. Has demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with parents, staff, students, and community
    REPORTS TO: Executive Director Student Services

    JOB GOAL: To fulfill federal mandates and state regulations as related to the identification, evaluation, and placement of exceptional children.

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Assess difficulties of referred students through appropriate testing and diagnostic practices
    2. Administer tests and recommends placement for exceptional children
    3. Help identify, within the school, all types of exceptional children
    4. Maintain case records on all referred students
    5. Recommend corrective procedures
    6. Conduct individual, group or facilitative therapy for children whose diagnosed problems would benefit from behavioral intervention
    7. Confer with parents and teachers, when necessary
    8. Attend case conferences on placement of individual students
    9. Serve as a consultant on mental health topic
    10. Interpret the school psychological services to parents and teachers
    11. Prepare and submit required reports on children in, or candidates for, special education programs
    12. Cooperate with personnel of community health and social welfare agencies
    13. Attend staff, professional, and interagency meetings
    14. Assist with in-service training of school personnel
    15. Identify educational and mental health related needs within the school community and suggest ways in which to meet those needs
    16. Keep informed of new developments within the field
    17. Perform other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the supervisor
