- Lead and collaborate with engineering teams to deliver high-performance mechanical building systems, encompassing planning, design, commissioning, energy optimization, and consulting on complex projects.
- Cultivate strong relationships with clients and colleagues at NV5.
- Support proposal development initiatives.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous technical and professional growth.
- Oversee the daily design activities of specific projects.
- Create and manage project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Generate plans, specifications, and cost estimates for multiple projects concurrently.
- Produce studies, drawings, or sketches as needed; develop final design documents.
- Maintain knowledge of building mechanical and plumbing systems and relevant regulatory codes.
- Contribute to the development of construction documents, project specifications, studies, and reports.
- Produce design drawings and/or provide feedback to drafting teams and other project resources.
- Research and analyze technical data, installation guides, and operation manuals for products and equipment.
- Coordinate design activities among internal and external team members, including those in Architectural, Civil, Structural, and MEP disciplines.
- Offer technical guidance, direction, and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff.
- Implement quality assurance and quality control processes, conducting various reviews as necessary.
- While the primary work will be based in the St. Paul office, occasional travel to remote project sites may be required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 7-10 years of experience in mechanical engineering within the consulting engineering sector, spanning from design to construction phases
- Experience in consulting engineering related to laboratory and/or research facilities, sustainable design solutions, critical environments design, and building automation systems design
- Professional Registration (PE) preferred; alternatively, successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam
- Comfortable engaging directly with clients
- Background in managing and/or providing technical leadership on projects preferred
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit software
- Familiarity with energy modeling software and sustainable design concepts desired
