    Description

    JOB SUMMARY:

    Coordinate the work teams' activities to see that goals are achieved. Direct, supervise, and coordinate test in assigned areas. Through assignment of duties and personal skills, assure timely, technical and efficient fulfillment of the areas responsibilities.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Plan, supervise, direct and engage in daily test operations, and anticipate test problems, (i.e., material/process/product nonconformance, equipment malfunctions, review of test data/records orders, etc.) such that loss of work hours is minimized and production and quality objectives are achieved resulting in the highest customer satisfaction possible.

    Utilize skills/experience/training, work hours, equipment, materials and work flow to achieve product conformance and quality objectives; exchange timely information with other supervisors on interdepartmental product flow, on-time delivery and work force needs.

    Manage on-time delivery performance of the test cells to the dispatch list

    Instruct, train, orient, motivate and otherwise assist employees so that test and quality objectives are achieved. Participate in the selection/interview process to fill hourly positions and appraise employee performance. Recommend promotions, transfers and work assignments.

    Provide information /assist managers, research and development, and/or mechanics in their efforts to diagnose product, tooling and equipment malfunctions quickly and thoroughly; initiate efforts aimed at affecting cost reductions, work simplification or improvements in methods or equipment.

    Supervise departmental safety and housekeeping practices and maintain a constant alert for hazardous conditions; respond to employee injuries by administering first aid, issuing medical authorization forms, investigating accident causes and recommending means to prevent accident reoccurrence. Ensure arc flash safe practices and procedures followed.

    Keep employees informed of the company rules and regulations, and output/productivity and quality expectations. Issue warnings and other approved disciplinary measures when necessary.

    Encourage employee communication and endorse an open door policy.

    Maintain professionalism and stay abreast of new developments through publications, vendors and in-house management training.

    Coach employees to achieve desired output for safety, quality, schedules and cost.

    Train employees to enable them to increase their involvement and self-direction

    Fosters an environment that focuses on our 5 core metrics: quality, cost, delivery, safety, and relationships

    ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Process/product improvements

    Equipment management, proper use and calibration

    Strategic planning, product design and evaluation of R&D efforts

    INTERACTIONS:

    Coordinates/Cooperates with all shop floor supervision to ensure conformance and timely delivery, test resources are allocated to meet total test load and company objectives.

    Builds relationships and mentors direct reports

    Works with Engineering, Quality, Test, and Manufacturing to effectively and collaboratively resolve any product issues that arise.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Must possess the ability to work in a fast paced, teamwork environment

    Must have a strong sense of urgency

    Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization

    Must possess strong problem solving and analytical skills

    Must possess strong teamwork and team building skills

    Superior time management and the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities

    The ideal candidate will be a high energy, hands on individual that is able to multi-task and work with little to minimal supervision.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    Technical Bachelor's degree; or four to ten years related experience in a equipment testing/qualification environment

    Some success in the implementation of Lean Manufacturing processes and procedures helpful

    COMPETENCIES:

    Must be very detail oriented with excellent problem troubleshooting and solving skills

    Must possess strong communication skills with all levels with company, verbal and written

    Must have a working knowledge of business fundamentals

    COMPUTER SKILLS:


    • High proficiency in Microsoft applications is required, especially Excel

    Proficiency with MRP systems / SAP experience is a definite plus
