    The Staff Electrical Engineer is responsible for diagnosing and resolving electrical technical issues for Cepheid's Instrument platform.

    Issues may arise from both internal and external customers, including, but not limited to, Product Lifecycle Management, Supply Continuity, and Design for Manufacturability.

    This position is part of Supplier Engineering and will be located in Sunnyvale, CA, and will be Hybrid. Drive engineering initiatives to improve product reliability and cost structure.

    Use analytical/experimental problem-solving skills to understand hardware, software, reagents, and consumables issues and to be able to quickly analyze and resolve system inter-operability problems.

    Participate in cross-functional project teams with scientists, technical support, and other engineers to create new and resolve determined root-cause issues and collaborate/perform/lead with other team members in the verification, validation, and Change Order submission and implementation of the redesigns.

    Perform and supervise the testing of components and products to ensure compliance with agency standards. Manage 3rd party testing teams to timely project completion and resolution of testing issues.
    Increase global access to PCR testing by ensuring supply chain continuity through Sustaining Engineering.

    Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
    At least 7 years of relevant work including hands-on experience in designing, testing, and troubleshooting electrical systems
    Ability to create and execute test protocols and conduct data analysis to gain insight into the quality and reliability of proposed changes
    Conduct board schematics/layout designs (both analog and digital), troubleshooting, and verification of electronics packaged within tight physical constraints
    Conduct failure investigations related to electrical systems and components with a proven track record in troubleshooting complex electrical issues, driving to root cause, and implementing effective corrective actions

    Competent with the implementation of ISO 9001, with ISO 13485 preferred
    Previous work experience in an FDA-regulated environment
    Product transfer to a Contract Manufacturer (CM)
