    Job Summary



    The Research Development Manager functions as a member of the Office of Research Development team to manage the development of a portfolio of research funding proposals. Provides specialized support essential for development of proposals to obtain external funding for new and continuing large-scale research projects. With guidance from the Director of Research Development, works directly with research teams to manage the proposal development process, assess and provide guidance on required proposal elements, and coordinate resources as needed to produce highly competitive research funding proposals.

    This position will interact on a consistent basis with the following: Director of Research Development, faculty, research administrators, and Office of Sponsored Programs staff. This position typically will advise and counsel the following: faculty and research administrators.


    Responsibilities



    Job Duty 1 -
    Manage a portfolio of large proposal development projects

    Job Duty 2 -
    Develop and manage documents, timelines, and meetings required for the proposal development process

    Job Duty 3 -
    Provide strategic assessment of proposals relative to funding program goals and review criteria

    Job Duty 4 -
    Provide guidance to improve the clarity and content of proposal components

    Job Duty 5 -
    Help ensure timely preparation of components required for compliance with funding agency solicitations

    Job Duty 6 -
    Coordinate or develop resources required to address proposal components, particularly specialized components of large-scale proposals

    Job Duty 7 -
    Administer critical internal and external reviews for draft proposals

    Job Duty 8 -
    Perform other related duties as assigned


    Required Qualifications



    Educational Requirements
    Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

    Required Experience
    Three to five years of editorial, writing, project management, engineering, research, capture management, or grants management experience


    Preferred Qualifications



    Additional Preferred Qualifications
    Ability to develop budgets for large-scale research projects.

    Preferred Educational Qualifications
    Advanced degree (Master's, Ph.D., etc.)

    Preferred Experience
    Three to five years of demonstrated success working with teams of faculty to develop large-scale research proposals for federal and foundation funding

Ability to critically review and edit technical documents. Ability to organize and manage processes required for development of large, complex proposals. Ability to work effectively with diverse teams of individuals. Ability to maintain confidentiality and apply judgment, discretion, and initiative in coordinating complex projects. Ability to maintain flexibility and prioritize tasks under tight deadlines. Ability to think strategically while maintaining attention to detail. Ability to interpret and ensure compliance with federal, state, and foundation requirements for grant proposals. Ability to work with a variety of software packages and to learn new software packages quickly. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

    Other Information



    The salary range for this position is $69,959-$90,041 The final offer commensurate with education and experience.
