Wieland is hiring a Machinist Intern. The Machinist Intern will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing machine problems including tearing down and reassembling intricate mechanisms and machines, along with installing, maintaining, and repairing a wide variety of complicated machine tools. This role is located in Pine Hall, NC and will be fully on-site.
Starting Pay: $18.00/hr
Schedule: 2-2-3 schedule on dayshift (1 A, 1 C)
Responsibilities:Machinist Intern Responsibilities:
Follows safe working procedures.
Manages the activities of his/her assigned projects.
Plans and estimates machine shop activities.
Creates layouts for and performs machine operations with the following equipment: lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, universal grinders, and boring machines, both manual-operated and CNC-controlled.
Performs basic cutting and welding.
Performs mechanical alignment using precision tools.
Performs bench work and fabrication.
Performs tool grinding operations.
Performs installation of bearings, gears, seals, and packing.
Maintains required records and documentation.
Must know when and who to ask for help.
CNC programming and modifying programs.
Plans stock inventory and requirements.
Machinist Intern Qualifications:
Accepts and delegates high levels of responsibility for processes affecting the organizations long-term welfare.
Deals effectively with all levels of personnel.
Performs to a high level of self-discipline and ethics to protect the companys interests.
Ability to read blueprints, work orders, engineering plans, material specifications, orthographic drawings and reference planes
Ability to judge and hold tight specifications.
Ability to troubleshoot machine problems.
Able to work from sample parts.
Identify and select proper type of metals for job.
In depth knowledge of national and international material-, drawing- and tolerance- standards
Commitment to high quality standards
Posesses or pursuing Machinist certification and/or Associates Degree
