    The Opportunity:
    • Senior Environmental Engineer at a growth-oriented energy company.

    Reporting to the Environmental Manager, you will provide exemplary customer service to our clients in the area of Federal & State Air compliance and hazardous/dangerous waste compliance.

    As part of your specific responsibilities, you will:
    • Build and maintain internal partnering relationships with Tacoma Refinery departments such as Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Safety, and the Laboratory--as well build an internal network across other Par Pacific refinery location.
    • Establish and maintain external working relationships with regulatory agencies, trade associations, consultants, and contractors.
    • Ensure environmental compliance manuals, procedures and guidelines are developed and/or are current.
    • Complete accurate/timely compliance reports to applicable federal, state, and local agencies.
    • Monitor environmental policies/regulations and establish compliance programs for the refinery.

    Qualifications:

    To meet the basic qualifications for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.     Qualifications for this role:
    • High School Diploma or GED required.
    • Bachelor's degree in chemical or environmental engineering, or in another relevant scientific/technical field to include chemistry, biochemistry, physics, required.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental compliance required.
    • Experience in air, water, spill prevention/response, or hazardous waste compliance, preferably in refining, petrochemical or manufacturing, preferred.
    • Comprehensive knowledge and experience working with federal, state, and local environmental regulatory requirements in the areas of clean air compliance OR hazardous and dangerous waste compliance required.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement environmental processes and programs specific to the business and its culture.
    • Excellent verbal and technical writing skills required.
    • Must be project and detail oriented with solid organizational abilities.
    • Self-motivated with the ability to achieve goals independently with minimal supervision.
    • Proficiency with MS Office applications required.
    • Experience using environmental agency reporting tools preferred.
    • Ability to work independently and effectively lead a team, communicate, and develop environmental training compliance across all professional groups in a refinery system.
    • Ability to safely conduct refinery field work both independently and as part of a team.
    • Position requires personnel to work onsite daily and is not a hybrid or remote position.
    • Flexibility to work more than 40 hours per week, swing shift, and in extreme weather conditions, such as extreme heat, cold, and rain is occasionally required during turnarounds or process shutdowns.
    • Employment is contingent upon favorable background and drug screening. Medical clearance to wear a respirator required.

    • Effectively communicate any compliance issues to management and serve as a technical liaison between Environmental, other refinery departments and environmental government agencies.
    • Train refinery personnel on permitting requirements, conduct internal refinery inspections, and participate in regulatory agency refinery inspections.
    • Function effectively in a team setting necessary to promote unity and develop workable solutions.
    • As a key member of the Environmental Department, you will help to support: Clean Water Compliance Program, Community Right-to-Know Program, Remediation Program, and Transportation Support.
    • Support key environmental responsibilities in your respective area of expertise:
      • Clean Air Compliance - Title V/AOP, NSPS, NESHAP, MACT, NSR, NAAQS, Risk Management Program, Consent Decree Administration, Greenhouse Gas Reporting, Emission Inventory Reporting, Toxic Release Inventory (TRI), assisting with EPA Fuels Compliance Reporting, Facilitate Stack Testing, WA Cap and Invest Regulation Compliance Support, Toxic Substances Control Act Reporting (TSCA).
      • Hazardous/Dangerous Waste Compliance - RCRA Compliance Program, Oil Spill Response Planning, SPCC Planning, reporting (TRI, dangerous waste, WIETS, Tier Two, Pollution Prevention, SARA 312) and spill drill planning.

    Pay Range:
    • $110,051- $191,905 per year.
