    Job Summary

    This position is in the Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD), Office of the Director.

    The DSLBD supports the development, economic growth, and retention of District-based businesses, and promotes economic development throughout the district's commercial districts.

    The purpose of this position is to perform data analysis, provide analytical support for the DSLBD and perform research to develop recommendations for program goals and procedures.

    Duties And Responsibilities

    Interprets statistical models and see patterns, trends, correlations, etc. in the data/variables for DSLBD management as well as other interested parties.

    Captures, develops, and documents data definitions, rules, data quality requirements, and logical and physical data models based on program requirements.

    Performs data cleaning and data validation and verification. Determines the most effective approach to data collection and validation and works independently to obtain needed data. Determines the most informative approaches to summarizing data and communicating analytical results. Develops, as required, innovative or customized templates and formats.


    Develops and applies analytical techniques to assist the agency in meeting its grant/research reporting and analysis and value-added intelligence product development objectives.

    Utilizes databases of information to create program reports, assures integrity of data, and utilizes software programs for retrieval of historical data, requests for information, summary reports and ad hoc analyses.

    Develops procedures to enhance reporting and query capabilities to improve efficiency and accuracy.

    Develops, approaches, and prepares analytical reports using DES (District Enterprise System) and/or QuickBase on performance measures, core indicators, and program benchmarks.

    Qualifications And Education


    Specialized Experience is required that equips the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.

    To be creditable, one (1) year of specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.

    Working Conditions/Environment

    The work is primarily sedentary. There may be some walking, standing, and carrying light items such as papers and books. Normal physical dexterity is sufficient for the performance of this work.

    Other Significant Facts

    The incumbent of this position will be subject to enhanced suitability screening pursuant. to Chapter 4 of the DC Personnel Regulations Suitability. This position has been designated as a Security Sensitive position.

    Tour of Duty:
    Monday- Friday 8:15AM- 4:45PM

    Collective Bargaining Unit:
    This position is not covered under a collective bargaining unit.


    Residency Requirement:
    If the position you are applying for is in the Career, Management Supervisory, or Educational Service at an annual salary of one hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) or more, you must establish residency in the District of Columbia within one hundred eighty (180) days of the effective date of the appointment and continue to maintain residency within the District of Columbia throughout the duration of the appointment
