Job Title: Pharmacy Technician
Location: North Chicago IL Duration: 6 Months Contract (with possible extensions)
Role Overview:
Pharmacy Technician Questionnaire:
Purpose:
The Pharmacy Technician role supports pharmacists by managing drug therapy orders, interpreting and dispensing prescriptions, maintaining patient and pharmacy records, and collaborating with supervisors.
Responsibilities:
- Assist pharmacists in accordance with regulations, HIPAA guidelines, and corporate policies.
- Manage physician outreach for incomplete or incorrect prescription information.
- Obtain accurate verbal orders and missing prescription information from healthcare providers.
- Assist patients with treatment compliance and update medication records.
- Communicate with insurance payors and providers to verify prescription coverage.
- Identify and recommend process improvements for efficiency.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams for service provision.
- Support changing business priorities as designated by management.
- Maintain pharmacy licensure, meet CE requirements, and promote a positive culture.
- Additional responsibilities as needed for business operations.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (associate degree preferred).
- Meet applicable Pharmacy Technician Licensure/Certification requirements by the first day.
- 3-5 years' experience in Specialty Pharmacy or Retail/Mail Order Pharmacy, PBM, or healthcare provider setting.
- Familiarity with medical record handling, prescription data entry, and quality customer service.
- Strong core insurance knowledge and online verification system experience.
- Attention to detail, ability to make quality decisions under supervision.
- Clear communication with healthcare professionals.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Flexible work schedule (7 am to 7 pm) and strong computer skills for data entry using Microsoft Word/Excel.
