    JOB PURPOSE:


    Manages the entire process of scheduling procedures and surgery for the office(s) and is able to make sound decision based on the needs of the office and the patients.

    Advises patients of surgical and financial pre-operative requirements. Coordinates, schedules appointments, orders supplies needed for surgeries and procedures at the clinic, ambulatory surgery centers, and hospitals.


    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • High level of coordinator required to schedule surgeries and procedures; in addition to follow up appointments as designated by physicians according to established policies and procedures.
    • Interact with patients', physicians and other staff with the office and at outside facilities providing accurate, timely and responsive information.
    • Understands and is able to communicate the pre-op information to patients, other departments and physicians to ensure the information of the specific procedures are clear.
    • Subject expert in CPT codes and medical terminology.
    • Coordinate processes and timing as required to meet physician and facility requirements.
    • Coordinates arrangements for surgical assistants, special equipment, and surgical materials.
    • Schedule diagnostic therapy and other treatments as requested.
    • Obtain authorization for surgery from patients' insurance company.
    • Provide patient with generic preoperative information sheets and advise patient of preoperative surgical and financial requirements.
    • Submit patient clinical and financial information to facility assuring appropriate medical records release, if needed.
    • Answer and screen telephone calls in a courteous manner.
    • Obtain accurate information from patients and ensure all registration forms are complete.
    • Collect patient pre-payments as directed.
    • File records in appropriate sections of the medical record.
    • Perform other related duties as directed or assigned.

    Skill and ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.

    Ability to work as a member of a team.

    Skill and ability in Microsoft Office applications.


    MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
    High School Diploma or GED


    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
    3 years' experience in Healthcare with 1 year in a specialty office or procedure scheduling


    MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
    None.


    ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
    Experience working in healthcare is required.
