    Title: Supply Chain Specialist

    Provides support in the planning and preparation of production schedules, which may include formulating and analyzing short- and long-range production plans, maintaining parts inventory, and coordinating new product launch activities, engineering changes, and new business activities in order to ensure that manufactured products are made in an efficient and timely manner, customer requirements are maintained, and shipment dates are met.

    JOB SUMMARY:

    Provides support in the planning and preparation of production schedules, which may include formulating and analyzing short- and long-range production plans, maintaining parts inventory, and coordinating new product launch activities, engineering changes, and new business activities in order to ensure that manufactured products are made in an efficient and timely manner, customer requirements are maintained, and shipment dates are met.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides support for Production Control activities, which may include monitoring work-in-progress, maintaining and developing Production Control systems, troubleshooting issues pertaining to Production Control systems and activities and developing appropriate countermeasures, coordinating scheduling of engineering changes and new product activities, reading drawings, understanding Engineering Change documents and conducting parts shortage investigations.
  • Negotiates complex situations with customers, including financial negotiations for reimbursement of air freight and deadstock claims, as well as adjusted delivery schedules as necessary.
  • Manages, coordinates, and negotiates with carriers from suppliers and to customers.
  • Analyzes market trends, customer inventory levels, and environmental changes and how they impact DMTN sales and inventory.
  • Engages in inventory control in order to meet numerical targets and ensure accuracy.
  • Performs raw material and parts localization control, phase-out control, ordering of local parts, new local parts and raw material start-up.
  • Engages in supplier development and supplier ordering of components and raw materials.
  • May assist in scheduling and packaging service parts orders.
  • Performs production scheduling and revises and updates the schedule based upon information changes in order to satisfy internal and external requirements. Controls trials, coordinates CFT responsibilities, and communicates change information to all plants.
  • Analyzes, maintains, and updates shortage and back order reports to efficiently administer inventory and follow-up.
  • Uses drawings to create or maintain bills of material.
  • Utilizes DMTN's supplier sales system to manage inventory parts sold to suppliers and update new drawings information in the AS400.
  • Analyzes, processes, and expedites customer orders, exception orders, and service parts orders by establishing and maintaining a production plan that meets requirements.
  • Reviews Shipping and Production Status Reports for accuracy and compliance of what the line has produced versus what has been planned.
  • Interfaces with customers regarding customer specific systems in order to satisfy customer requirements and maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Participates in the development of the annual plan for Production based upon the development of sales forecasts.
  • Initiates trial schedules to ensure that customer requirements are met.
  • Maintains an appropriate level of conventionality and conformance in regard to the corporate culture as expressed in the Associate Handbook. Relates well with others, including as appropriate, peers, supervisors, subordinates, customers and suppliers. Maintains good attendance and assumes appropriate role(s) when working in a team environment. Responds appropriately to unexpected, and/or continuing, situations which develop in the work environment.
  • ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares reports and attends or leads meetings as necessary.
  • Performs inventory control evaluations of internal systems as needed to ensure accuracy.
  • May be assigned as an internal auditor and may participate in internal and external audit activities.
  • Provides support to other departments with issues pertaining to Production Control.
  • Resolves customer emergencies outside of normal business hours, including arrangement of after hours and weekend shipments with Logistics.
  • Maintains appropriate expertise to ensure an effective technical level by utilizing all resources available.
  • May need to communicate daily with DENSO Japan and other global suppliers.
  • Travels as needed based on Company business requirements.
  • Fulfills administrative and other duties as assigned.
  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Materials Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Required 0-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to comprehend complex instructions and respond effectively.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic accurately and quickly.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of Production Control policies, procedures, and terms.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and good presentation skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and monitor a high level of activity as demonstrated under a variety of conditions and constraints
