    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for participating in and executing daily administrative and programmatic Human Resources (HR) operations for employment and workforce programs.

    The role provides support in driving and executing employment and workforce programs, planning, and management functions, initiatives, and projects.

    Support of onboarding and new hire orientations

    Program support of employee leaves of absence

    Workers' compensation

    Program support of employee workers' compensation claims

    Provides program and project support as requested
    Essential Functions in Program Areas

    Ongoing administrative work associated with data maintenance and compliance deadlines.

    Includes maintenance of HR/Benefits/Workforce data in human resources information system (HRIS), creating and distributing programmed reports from the database such as staff rosters, onboarding lists, compliance completion, and employee data changes and authorizations.

    Creating and maintaining personnel records electronically and physically.

    Administering employee position status changes including circulating updated job descriptions, personnel action forms, and staff change notifications, updating the HRIS; participating in employee termination processing and all associated processing.

    Administering immunization compliance, the Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) pull program, and the language translation certifications.

    Ongoing administrative and program operational work for employee leave of absences and workers' compensation claims including communication with vendors, managers, and employees.

    Participating in compilation of time sensitive reports and audit preparation as requested.
    Completing employment verifications for current and past employees; assistance responding to legal documents requests.
    Administering and assisting with benefit program administration.
    Participating with the Recruiting Coordinator and the Human Resources Staff on new hire orientation and specific employee trainings.
    Ordering office and personnel supplies and materials.

    Monitoring, distributing, and responding to HR tickets and emails, ensuring all inquires and requests are distributed in a timely manner to the correct individual(s).

    Processing and distributing incoming department mail.
    Participating as back-up for all programs and teammates.
    Providing confidential administrative, operational, and project support to the HR team.

    Ability to handle data and conversations ethically, legally, and confidentially.
    Approaches work with integrity at all times.
    Is comfortable and timely in owning and reporting mistakes and is proactive in suggesting solutions and corrections.
    Exhibits a genuine interest in and understands the importance of human resources functions and programs.
    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

    Comfortable with Microsoft 365 platform and OneDrive and is willing to explore best practices for team share filing and communication.

    Familiarity with human resources information systems (HRIS).
    Comfortable working with third party administrators and vendors.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
    Bachelor's degree highly preferred, commensurate work experience acceptable.
    Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Society of Human Resources Professional Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification preferred.

    A minimum of one year in a fast-paced, diverse assignment, confidential administrative and/or program analyst position requiring complex communications and interactions.

    Eligible work includes certain positions in human resources, as an executive administrator, and some legal assistant positions.
    More than one year of direct HR experience with and strong knowledge of HR processes and best practices preferred.
    $ $31.68 an hour
