- Analyzes system logs in response to a potential security detection or to further investigate a reported situation.
- Performs reimaging and operating system updates to compromised systems or to remediate vulnerabilities.
- Analyzes and removes malware/viruses.
- Monitors and remediates phishing mailbox.
- Responds and monitors to SIEM tool incidents.
- Identifies opportunities to strengthen the cybersecurity posture of the environment ranging from configuration changes to software solutions and process improvement.
- Develops and maintains documentation related to security process changes and incidents.
- Assists with other projects and duties as assigned.

- Must be able to work effectively as a member of the Information Systems and Business Intelligence team.

- Ability to work as an entry-level security analyst who is able to review various system logs and identity normal and suspicious traffic and events.
- Ability to identify what machines have malware/viruses and understand how to remediate them. Uses information available in product consoles to understand where virus/malware originated from and initial summary of IOC (indicator of compromise).
- Analyzes phishing messages and understands what parts of the message indicated to the end-user that it was phishing.
- Strong business acumen - ability to understand the impact of IT on different parts of the business.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:The Information Systems Department at Trinity Health IHA Medical Group (IHA) is looking to hire a Cybersecurity Analyst Intern to perform a variety of security-related tasks that one should expect a junior or entry-level security analyst to perform. Types of tasks can include reimaging machines that have been previously compromised, SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) tool usage, virus/malware remediation, identity protection, vulnerability remediation and other general tasks related to strengthening the cybersecurity posture of an organization. The Cybersecurity Intern will work closely with the infrastructure team, as well as system or application owners, to identify opportunities to strengthen the security posture. The ideal candidate is not required to be an immediate subject matter expert, but has a strong interest and willingness to learn and collaborate under the guidance of the internship sponsors.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
EDUCATION: Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in cyber security, computer engineering, computer science, information systems, or information technology. Preferred previous educational exposure to IT network and server infrastructure, endpoint management or information technology.
CREDENTIALS/LICENSURE: N/A
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Intermediate knowledge of IT security concepts (SIEM, EDR, threat management). Experience within the information technology field supporting networks, servers, applications or security is a plus.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS (ABILITIES & SKILLS):
This job operates in a typical office environment which involves frequent interruptions and significant interaction with people which can be stressful at times.
