    POSITION DESCRIPTION:

    The Information Systems Department at Trinity Health IHA Medical Group (IHA) is looking to hire a Cybersecurity Analyst Intern to perform a variety of security-related tasks that one should expect a junior or entry-level security analyst to perform. Types of tasks can include reimaging machines that have been previously compromised, SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) tool usage, virus/malware remediation, identity protection, vulnerability remediation and other general tasks related to strengthening the cybersecurity posture of an organization. The Cybersecurity Intern will work closely with the infrastructure team, as well as system or application owners, to identify opportunities to strengthen the security posture. The ideal candidate is not required to be an immediate subject matter expert, but has a strong interest and willingness to learn and collaborate under the guidance of the internship sponsors.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
    1. Analyzes system logs in response to a potential security detection or to further investigate a reported situation.
    2. Performs reimaging and operating system updates to compromised systems or to remediate vulnerabilities.
    3. Analyzes and removes malware/viruses.
    4. Monitors and remediates phishing mailbox.
    5. Responds and monitors to SIEM tool incidents.
    6. Identifies opportunities to strengthen the cybersecurity posture of the environment ranging from configuration changes to software solutions and process improvement.
    7. Develops and maintains documentation related to security process changes and incidents.
    8. Assists with other projects and duties as assigned.

    7. Maintains strict patient and employee confidentiality in compliance with IHA and HIPAA guidelines.

    9. Uses resources efficiently.
    10. If applicable, responsible for ongoing professional development - maintains appropriate licensure/certification and continuing education credentials, participates in available learning opportunities.
    ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

    EDUCATION: Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in cyber security, computer engineering, computer science, information systems, or information technology. Preferred previous educational exposure to IT network and server infrastructure, endpoint management or information technology.

    CREDENTIALS/LICENSURE: N/A

    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Intermediate knowledge of IT security concepts (SIEM, EDR, threat management). Experience within the information technology field supporting networks, servers, applications or security is a plus.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS (ABILITIES & SKILLS):
    1. Strong interest in cybersecurity.
    2. Ability to assist system administrators, service desk analysts and field technicians in remediating security risks or responding to security concerns.
    3. Ability to work as an entry-level security analyst who is able to review various system logs and identity normal and suspicious traffic and events.
    4. Ability to identify what machines have malware/viruses and understand how to remediate them. Uses information available in product consoles to understand where virus/malware originated from and initial summary of IOC (indicator of compromise).
    5. Analyzes phishing messages and understands what parts of the message indicated to the end-user that it was phishing.
    6. Strong business acumen - ability to understand the impact of IT on different parts of the business.
    7. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and learn quickly.
    8. Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal forms.
    9. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
    10. Good organizational and time management skills to effectively juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
    11. Ability to handle patient and organizational information in a confidential manner.
    12. Successful completion of IHA competency-based program within introductory and training period.
    MINIMUM PHYSICAL EXPECTATIONS:
    1. Physical activity that often requires extensive time working on a computer.
    2. Physical activity that occasionally requires lifting up to 20 lbs.
    3. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust and focus.
    4. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment.
    5. Must hear and speak well enough to conduct business over the telephone or face to face for long periods of time in English.
    MINIMUM ENVIRONMENTAL EXPECTATIONS:

    This job operates in a typical office environment which involves frequent interruptions and significant interaction with people which can be stressful at times.
