    Posting Summary

    Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant for NJMS- Microbiology. This position is under the direction of the Principal Investigator. The Temporary Research Assistant performs and assists with technical laboratory procedures and analyses in support of specialized research activities including relevant procedures such as: PCR, Real-Time PCR, chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP), western blotting, preparation of DNA and RNA for next-generation sequencing, cell culture, animal handling and breeding and mouse dissections.

    Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Is responsible for the breeding and genotyping of mice and general maintenance of animal colonies.
  • Order, unpacks, and stores laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Prepares and maintains cell culture reagents and stock solutions.
  • Assists with maintenance of equipment and instruments.
  • Is responsible for recording and analyzing data and maintaining the laboratory records, files and databases.
  • Assists with experiment preparation and execution including animal dissection and tissue harvesting.
  • Performs laboratory bench work involving mouse and human cellular, and molecular biological assays.
