    We are seeking a COPYWRITER to join the Orvis Team This is a remote position with potential travel to our home office in Vermont once per year.

    The Copywriter, Cross Category, is a humble, hungry, ever-curious, and versatile creative, who brings our brand's passion and power to inspire a love of nature to life through the written word.Obsessed with authenticity in the category, this writer takes the pursuit of learning to new levels while leaping from digital to retail to print and back around again effortlessly, infusing the Brand Voice into every customer touchpoint.

    Position Interfaces:

    As part of Orvis' Internal Agency, Flybox, this role reports directly to the Senior Copy Manager, with no direct reports, and will collaborate with Flybox copywriters, designers and content creators, as well as cross-functional partners in Brand Marketing, Product Marketing, and Merchandising.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop on-brand copy and concepts (inspired by our Brand Vision and Values) across all digital (email, social, eCommerce), retail, and print/catalog marketing channels across all Orvis categories.
    • Support Senior Copywriters by writing copy and concepting campaign ideas in response to marketing briefs or requested editorial and product copy needs for and our catalogs.
    • Maintain an ongoing dialogue with category Marketers and Merchants to ensure all product and brand messaging is fact-based and up to date in an ever-changing product development environment.
    • Work with the Senior Manager in the ongoing application of the Orvis brand voice in this category.
    • Build cross-team relationships and work closely with digital and catalog teams to coordinate the efficient delivery of our best creative expressions through proactive, continuous communication.

    Competencies and Requirements:

    • Deep love for the outdoors and our responsibility to leave the campsite better than we found it.
    • 3-5 years of copywriting experience (portfolio required), must have experience writing for digital.
    • Ability to react constructively, collaborating with writers and key partners on editorial changes.
    • Clear, honest, timely, good-natured communicator—in writing and in conversation.
    • Extreme attention to details.
    • Ability to self-project-manage—a well-organized juggler keeping many balls in the air, who wouldn't even think of missing a deadline.
    • Experience with apparel/pet-related eCommerce brands a plus.
    • Experience with outdoor, adventure, and/or adventure travel brands/publications an even bigger plus.
    • Bachelor's degree in Creative Writing, English, Journalism, Advertising or similar field.
