    Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

    We are currently seeking a Senior Financial Systems Developer in the Finance department, reporting to the Senior Financial Systems Manager.

    This role is responsible for the health and improvement of the firms financial systems.

    This position must have extensive knowledge and experience around the legal financial system that supports various accounting functions, not limited to time, disbursements, billing, collections, AP, AR, GL, etc.

    When issue arise, this team member will be able to help troubleshoot, to help design a solution and to provide guidance for the team and/or the end users.

    Most importantly, this person will approach all tasks and projects with the understanding of data integrity and system functionality, making sure that the provided solution will be best for the long term.

    The Senior Financial Systems Developer is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firms attorneys, advisors, and staff, and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement.


    The position has full remote work capabilities, candidates must reside in California, Texas, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts Connecticut or Washington, DC.

    Key responsibilities of this position include:


    Manage and maintain the firms financial systems; Aderant Expert Classic, Aderant Expert Framework, iTimekeep, Expert Image, Generic Importer, INTAPP Open, Chrome River, BillBlast, etc.

    Key oversight of systems process management, implementations, upgrades, security, system performance, end user experience and engagement.

    Drive business process improvements with a focus on automation


    Lead and manage system upgrades, patch applications and the testing of new customizations, including the development of test strategies and tools.

    Develop inquiries and reports as needed

    Responsible for the month-end closing activities

    Initiate/monitor/document all interfaces between financial databases and applications.

    Simplify and assist with the creation and/or modification of bill templates and check formats

    Act as senior liaison between Finance and IT, software vendors, and other 3rd party consulting service providers, with detailed specifications defining needed customizations or new initiatives

    Provide Help Desk support for financial systems.

    Create functional and technical documentation, provide training and support to the Finance Systems team and systems users.

    Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

    Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, computer systems or a related field required

    Minimum of 7 years of experience in the global legal industry

    Minimum of 7 years of experience with Aderant Expert

    Advanced experience with Aderant Expert programming environment including DocuDraft, Design Studio, End User Painter, Report Writer, View Editor, Security Manager and other customization tools

    Extensive knowledge of Aderant Expert multi-currency table structure and data flow

    Advanced Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and T-SQL skills required

    SSRS, SSIS, PowerShell and VBA knowledge required

    Advance proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint

    Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate potentially detailed and complex information to others

    Strong project leadership, analytical, creative problem solving skill

    Ability to manage multiple priorities and adjust in a professional manner

    Willingness and ability to assume new tasks and responsibilities

    Strong service orientation, and an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with users, peers, office and firm management, and outside business partners

    Ability to work well under pressure, facilitate solutions, and meet deadlines and milestones for projects assigned

    Commitment to professional growth and development

    The base salary range for this position in California and New York is $130,000 to $160,000.
