- Design and conduct experiments to measure bacterial growth in different settings.
- Monitor and record the impact of water quality, temperature, and pH on the rate and type of bacterial growth.
- Analyze data using statistical tools to understand trends and patterns in bacterial growth.
- Present findings to the research team, providing insights and recommendations for process improvements.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines in the laboratory and plant environment.
- Collaborate with the glass mat Plants, Principal Scientist and Material Science Engineer to ensure the integration of microbiological findings with glass manufacturing processes. This person will report to the Principal Scientist.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Enrolled in classes toward a bachelor's degree in a Microbiology or a related field.
- Ability to effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
- Mathematical Skills - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.
- Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Computer Skills - Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows operating systems.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods; must be able to operate a computer and other forms of office technology; must be able to effectively communicate.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet and occasionally moderate.
