- Technical project execution, including applying sound engineering judgment and a deep understanding of governing codes, design guidelines, and industry practices; collaborating with interdisciplinary project teams across WJE as the electrical subject-matter expert (SME); leveraging your expertise in all facets of modern control and power systems (e.g., motor and drive engineering, PLC and distributed control, and power distribution systems); preparing technically excellent client deliverables; providing high-quality reviews and oversight of work by others; and performing and training others in hands-on electrical field work
- Project management, including client development, project scoping, assembling and managing appropriate project teams, maintaining project schedules and budgets, and managing client expectations and deliverables
- Contributions to electrical practice and company-wide objectives, including participating in recruitment, mentoring, and development of up-and-coming electrical engineers; collaborating with other practice leaders for in-house knowledge-sharing and training initiatives; enhancing WJE's profile through meaningful involvement in professional organizations, conferences, and technical committees
- Licensed Professional Engineer (electrical)
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field; master's degree preferred
- Minimum 20 years of relevant industry experience (e.g., energy and process industry, power generation, rail transit, wastewater, civil infrastructure, locks and dams, movable bridges, kinetic structures, etc.)
- Established expertise in a variety of electrical engineering applications (e.g., failure/damage investigation; non-destructive evaluation and instrumentation; analysis and design for repair and troubleshooting of existing systems; design of new systems; and/or litigation support)
- Effective technical, graphical, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface with internal and external clients
- Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing demands, while maintaining a high standard of excellence, integrity, and attention to detail
- Participation in relevant industry organizations
- Ability to travel on average 30% of time, with intermittent increases possible
- Ability to travel and attend meetings at various office, field, and construction sites
- Ability to safely work at heights, in confined spaces, and in a variety of occupationally hazardous locations, including outdoors with exposure to temperature extremes
- Ability to safely use and/or operate ladders, scaffolds, lifts, and other access equipment
- Ability to lift and carry materials, tools, and other heavy equipment
- Medically fit to utilize respiratory protection devices and other forms of Personal Protective Equipment

Annual starting base salary (gross): $125,000 to $165,000. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on several factors including consideration for a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base salary is one component of our total compensation package for employees.
