    Orthopedic Surgery - Spine (M67315)
    VCU Health - Richmond, VA

    We're seeking a spine surgeon to join our team to provide excellent, evidence-based, efficient patient care; thorough and responsive consultation in orthopaedic spine services; effective supervision, teaching and mentoring of orthopaedic housestaff and students; streamlined throughput process for admitted orthopaedic patients across the health system.

    improve quality and efficiency of orthopaedic service at VCU Health System; provide prompt high-quality orthopaedic spine care; mentor residents and fellows; work within the hospital system and with other departments to provide multidisciplinary care for general orthopaedic patients.

    Staff inpatient housestaff teaching service with learners including medical students, interns and residents; use contemporary adult learning methods to promote evidence-based practice; Participate in clinical and administrative research, according to skills, interest and funding; research opportunities may include performance improvement initiatives or formal extramurally funded investigations; maintain a level of scholarship in Orthopaedic Surgery consistent with academic rank.

    Work with institutional staff and administration to attain the strategic objectives of VCU Health System, including patient safety, patient and other customer satisfaction, maintenance and enhancement of public perception, and fiscal health.

    Admit and manage patients who present through the orthopaedic spine service, co-management of patients on other services, triage medicine patient requiring admission in the Emergency Department and non-medical services and non-VCU hospitals; comply in a timely manner with all institutional policies for professional work including credentialing, documentation, billing; Other (for instance administrative duties, etc.)
    Ensure compliance with all regulatory and regulatory reimbursement requirement. D. degree and ABOS certification/eligibility in Orthopaedic Surgery.

    • Must have successfully completed a fellowship in spine surgery.
    • Record of scholarly publication in peer review journals.
    • A solid understanding of the orthopaedic spine role and function and interest in teaching and growth in an academic setting.
    • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at Virginia Commonwealth University.
    Interest in furthering the research, scholarly and academic missions of the group.
