Bericap is a privately held family-owned company founded in 1926, and is one of the leading manufacturers of plastic closures for food, beverage and industrial markets. As a result of continued growth Bericap SC, LLC has a full-time, hourly opening for a Process Technician reporting to the Senior Process Engineer.

Position Purpose

The primary role of the Process Technician is developing and monitoring critical process parameters and conduct process related training for operators. The process technician is the main contact when the process or process equipment is not performing within specifications. The process technician works in close cooperation with mold, machine maintenance (initiate preventive actions), second operation team and quality department ensures that the plant receives prompt, efficient, and quality service.

Responsibilities

· Ensures that all work undertaken is carried out safely and without injury

· Ensures Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) are followed at all times (no jewelry, cell phone, nicotine in any form, etc.)

· Ensure all quality, food safety, safety, environmental as well as other Company policies and procedures are followed

· Ensure that all quality, food safety, safety, environmental issues are reported to the appropriate manager or supervisor

· Housekeeping duties performed throughout the shift

· Maintaining material supplies to machines

· Packaging and labeling of WIP/Finished Goods

· Stretch wrapping and storage of product

· Dispose of scrap into proper containers

· Initiates corrective action for non-conformances

· Identify Opportunities for Improvement and enter into See It, Sort It, Report It System

· Duties as assigned per Senior Process Engineer

· Ability to lift 35 pounds unassisted and to work while standing for 8 hours

· Flexible to quickly adapt to learning new tasks, moving to new areas to meet changing customer demands

Process Responsibilities

· Operate: injection molding machines, vision systems, down-stream equipment and material feed equipment

· Assist with the start-up of new equipment: developing process parameters and implement operator training plan

· Monitor critical process parameters on the injection machines, vision systems, color feeders, color blenders and secondary systems to include scheduled process and equipment audits

· Establish optimum calculated alarm parameters around the baseline process

· Lead role in advanced process analysis: identifying process improvements that result in cost savings, improved part quality and improvement of related KPI's

· Conduct process related training for operators

· Execute sample requests issued and process related activities focused on identifying root cause

· Participate in mold and product design/drawing/process reviews when required

· Audit box counts and vision system to verify that the equipment is working correctly

· Maintain Process Databases and document process changes

· Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot Process vs. Machine vs. Mold Issues vs. Material Issues

· Evaluate processes with downed cavities or off cycle times

· New Mold Process Development

· Support new mold startup activities in house or at the mold builder

· Close cooperation with mold, machine maintenance (initiate preventive actions), second operation team and quality department

· Liaise with outside suppliers, machine manufacturers and Bericap management

Skills

· Effective written and verbal communication skills

· Math skills to allow for conversions of process related parameters to volumetric values

· Computer/Technology Literate

· Effective organizational skills with an attention to detail

· Advanced injection molding knowledge related to troubleshooting and resin behavior

· Advanced problem-solving skills focused on root cause analysis and lessons learned

· Working knowledge of basic hydraulic/electric/pneumatic/vision systems

· Effective time management skills

Experience

· 5 years of experience with processing injection mold machines and secondary equipment

· Experience with High Cavitation Tooling preferred and ability to troubleshoot downed cavitation

· Process design and mold qualifications preferred

· Formal plastic process training such as scientific molding, Paulson or equivalent preferred

· ISO or similar quality system and SQF or similar food safety system preferred

Education

High School Diploma required, degree or technical certification preferred
