    Description
    JOB SUMMARY:Responsible for transporting passengers, supplies and materials within various Agency programs.
    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Transport authorized passengers, supplies and materials within the various agency programs.
    • Prepares various transportation reports and logs as required by Agency funding sources.
    • Attends required driver training courses.
    • Maintains assigned vehicle in a clean and satisfactory manner inside and out.
    • Ensures that passengers follow vehicle laws such as the wearing of seatbelts, etc.
    • Assists passengers on/off vehicles as required. Assists riders with unloading and carrying groceries to the passenger's front door.
    • Performs preventive maintenance tasks such as oil, tires, and battery checks. Reports required repairs to the Director, Maintenance.
    • Immediately reports all incidents/accidents involving passengers/vehicles to appropriate Division Director.
    • Performs other related driver duties as required.
    • This position requires frequent travel to offsite locations.
    • Participates in drug testing as required by Agency or funding source.
    WORKING CONDITIONS:Conduct work in a moderate paced environment. Majority of work centers on local transportation of passengers, supplies and materials. Possess strength and stamina to be able to remain in a seated position for up to 45 minutes at a time throughout the workday with a minimum of fatigue and discomfort. Be able to stoop, kneel, crouch and reach. Upper body strength to lift 25 pounds and carry 50 feet. Be able to spend most of the time inside Agency vehicles with some work outside in cold/hot weather. Possess positive communication skills in working with staff, clients, and the public sector. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
    • High School graduate or GED.
    • Two (2) years commercial driving experience with an excellent driving record.
    • Must be insurable and possess or be able to obtain a commercial driver's license.
    • Pass OSBI background check and drug test.
    • Ability to work with various age groups and cultures.
    • Have no physical limitation that would preclude the lifting of supplies and materials.
    About Community Action Agency of Oklahoma City:

    The Community Action Agency of OKC/Oklahoma County was established in 1966, and initially was financed by the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, which launched the nation's "War on Poverty." Eventually the funding was consolidated into the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG). The Community Services division was implemented early on, serving low-income residents of Oklahoma County. Early programs included implementing the Food Stamp program and offering a nutrition program for seniors at meal centers.Today the division has greatly expanded to offer legal assistance; tax assistance; summer youth programs; senior transportation to meal sites, medical appointments, and shopping; rent and mortgage assistance; and other community needs.HEAD STARTThe Agency's first Head Start center opened its doors to 39 families in 1965. Within two years, nine new centers and 575 children entered Head Start in Oklahoma County. Today we have 26 Head Start classrooms in 15 public schools, and 98 Head Start classrooms total providing services to thousands of children in Oklahoma County.
