    Job Description Summary


    As Technical Leader, you will use cross functional teaming and program management skills to assist in constructing and executing a technical strategy for the development and production of next generation turbine airfoils.

    Serve as the technical leader for projects impacting next generation turbine airfoil core and casting processes.

    Find solutions to complex issues, manage long-term planning, and contribute to the maturation of a next generation of designs, materials, and processes.


    A high level of operational and technical judgement will be required to continually assess capabilities against long term business objectives.

    Job Description

    Essential Responsibilities

    Work collaboratively with Design and Systems Engineering teams, Research, and Supply Chain leaders to formulate technical priorities and resource strategies that align with long term business objectives

    Engage with design and supply chain on material and manufacturing industrialization.

    Stay connected to the details of the manufacturing processes and work closely with the team at our lab and development facilities.


    Organize and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical design, thermal design, materials engineering, data science, manufacturing, quality, and program management.

    Lead small projects to manage and mitigate risks.

    Identify resource requirements, needs, and gaps.

    Serve as a project manager and technical resource accountable for risk burndown and driving milestone completion. This role will include leading or supporting technology maturation efforts and quality initiatives.


    Lead and facilitate operating rhythms ensuring regular communication of technical, programmatic and business information between organizations, within the work group and with senior business leaders.

    Manage project plans and action plans for executing on SQDC objectives. Lead cross-functional teams through completion of deliverables. Communicate schedule pressures and delegate tasks appropriately.

    Gain or build:
    Systems thinking through the broader integration of design, materials science, manufacturing, and quality while leading operations for maturing TRL and MRL for production of next generation airfoils

    Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with Engineering and Supply Chain policies and procedures using TRL and MRL maturation approaches in preparation for full rate production


    Execute the analysis and evaluations of materials and process development with sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.

    Deploy specialized knowledge of advanced additive design and manufacturing methods.

    Link projects and contributions to commercial programs, future programs, and product scale-up strategies.


    Use judgment to make decisions or solve moderately to highly complex tasks or problems in areas related to component design and manufacturing.

    Leverage and promote use of the GE Aerospace Flight Deck Operating System as our problem solving and decision making Framework

    Support a multi-million dollar budget for a matrixed, indirect team covering labor, equipment and materials. Coordinate with functional leaders to replan/adjust budget as priorities and maturation needs evolve

    Required Qualifications

    Bachelor's Degree in Materials Science or related Engineering field from an accredited university or college

    A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in materials science, engineering, manufacturing, process development, and/or design

    Experience in design and/or manufacturing for turbomachinery hot section components

    Able to work in-person (not virtual) > 75% of the time with ability to travel between local sites in the Cincinnati and Dayton area

    US citizen or green card holder required for Export Control purposes

    Desired Characteristics

    10 years of relevant experience in materials science, engineering, manufacturing, process development, and/or design

    Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related STEM field from an accredited university

    Strong interpersonal and leadership skills; experience in influencing and leading small teams with a flexible, friendly attitude

    Technical depth in additive manufacturing or casting methods; proven experience collaborating with design and supply chain counterparts

    Collaborative, forward thinking, can operate in gray space and has process mindset.
    Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

    Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

    Proven ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously with demonstrated project management expertise

    Effective problem-solving, analytical skills, and ability to make appropriate risk-based decisions; ability to mentor others in resolving complex problems

    Excellent communication and technical documentation skills

    Keen listener and innate drive to succeed.

    Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
