Job Description This is a contract position with an expected duration of 6 to 9 months total.

Candidate must reside in the Central Time Zone or Eastern Time Zone.

    Job Summary

The Segmentation Technician plays a critical role in the development of personalized medical solutions by creating preoperative models derived from patient CT scans.

These detailed 3D models serve as the foundation for design engineers to develop preoperative plans or patient-specific implants tailored to the unique anatomy of each patient.

This role involves the use of advanced software tools, including Materialise Mimics, ScanIP, and SolidWorks, to ensure high-quality segmentation and model creation. The Segmentation Technician must possess a strong understanding of anatomy and expertise in medical imaging to generate accurate and detailed models that directly impact patient care and outcomes.

The primary focus of this role includes the segmentation and preparation of anatomical regions for both lower and upper extremities. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Lower Extremity: Hips, knees, and feet.
    • Upper Extremity: Spine, craniofacial regions, shoulders, and hands.

The ideal candidate will excel in working with multiple software platforms to create precise and functional models that meet the specifications of design engineers and ultimately improve patient-specific care solutions.

Location: East or Central Time Zone states

    Pay range: $22 - 26/hour

    Duties and responsibilities
    • Generate 3D and other post-processing images from diagnostic, CT, MRI and other data sources using commercial and research software and computers
    • Review and evaluate images received in anticipation of restor3d implant design
    • Ability to work at a desk for prolonged periods using a computer.
    • Must have the ability to see the full color spectrum, as distinguishing subtle color variations is critical for segmenting complex cases with static or ambiguous anatomy.
    • Capability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications and experience

    Required Skills:
    • Proficiency in medical imaging, particularly MRI and CT scans.
    • Experience with image segmentation software such as Materialise Mimics and ScanIP.
    • Strong knowledge and practical experience with 3D CAD software, including tools like SolidWorks, for creating and refining patient-specific models used in implant design and surgical planning.
    • Understanding of medical anatomy and terminology.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with the design team and other stakeholders.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

    Education and Experience:

    • Experience working with medical imaging, particularly MRI and CT scans.
    • Proficiency in image segmentation using software such as Materialize Mimics, 3D Slicer or ScanIP.
    • Practical experience with 3D CAD software, including SolidWorks, for creating and manipulating 3D models.
    Preferred:
    • Bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering, medical imaging, or a related medical field or College-level coursework or equivalent education in Anatomy and Physiology, Biology, and Medical Terminology.
    • Experience working within a quality management system (QMS).
    • Familiarity with preoperative planning or patient-specific implant design processes.
    Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to work at a desk for prolonged periods using a computer.
