    Description
    The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is an integral member of Open Door's Executive Leadership Team.

    The CFO is responsible for leading and managing all financial activities of the organization including budgeting, analysis, and forecasting in strategic alignment with the mission and vision of the organization.

    The CFO also partners with executive leadership to develop and maintain fiscal policies and procedures, compliance with various grant requirements, risk management, and solutions to a variety of challenges that assist the CEO, the Board, and others on the Leadership Team in leading the organization and fulfilling the mission.

    The CFO reports directly to the CEO.

    Key Responsibilities


    Manage the development of organization and department budgets with department heads for approval by the CEO, finance committee, and Board of Directors.

    Generate monthly financial statements and reports which analyze all expenses, revenues, and the balance sheet.

    Generate monthly financial dashboards which accurately forecast cash, revenue, and expenses and inform short- and long-term planning.

    Manage Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and vendor relationships as necessary.

    Prepare and manage all tax submissions to IRS, including Form 990.

    Manage annual audit and serve as the liaison with the audit firm.

    Maintain all banking relationships and initiate strategies to strengthen cash position.

    Manage insurance policies, liability, directors and officers, and worker's compensation; negotiate annual renewal with vendor.


    Put all necessary systems and controls in place to manage financial activities and maintain compliance with the highest ethical standards, all applicable laws, regulations, and funding requirements.

    Strengthen internal controls to manage cash flow and protect financial assets.

    Install procedures to improve efficiencies and reduce expenses where possible.

    Monitor and approve expenditures to ensure budget compliance and efficient use of funds.

    Communicate policies and procedures to department directors and staff.

    Lead finance department in ensuring grant compliance and organizational contract oversight.

    Work closely with development team to provide necessary financial analysis and support for revenue generation.

    Collaborate with the executive team, department directors and staff to track and report operational metrics.

    Update and maintain Financial Policies and Procedures.

    Other duties as required.

    Education and Experience

    Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.

    A minimum of 2 years of financial management experience.

    Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.

    Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) as relevant to nonprofits.

    Excellent financial management skills.

    Excellent database and accounting application system skills.

    Strong time and project management skills.

    Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    A minimum 3 year commitment is expected.

    Environmental/Working Conditions

    The CFO is based in the Open Door Administrative office. 50% of hours may be remote with some exceptions based on organizational needs. Primary hours are Mon-Fri 8am-5pm. Other hours may be needed based on board and committee meeting times.


    Base Pay Range:
    $90,000+ (depending on experience and qualifications) / plus generous benefits.
