Assists with admission transfer and discharge of patients answers call system promptly takes and records patients temperature pulse respiration blood pressure intake output and weight according to hospital procedure performs glucometer testing bladder scans as requested assists in giving teaching bed baths shower tub partial baths therapeutic baths sitz foot temperature sponge bath assist in giving teaching oral hygiene hair care nails care special skin care back rubs makes open closed occupied beds does perineal care performs foley catheter care directs nurse passes empties bedpan collects urine stool specimens passes meal trays needed assists patients obtaining nourishment between meals assists teaches meals refills patient water pitcher applies K-pad ice pack assists walking crutch walking walker transports wheelchair stretcher chair transcribes physicians written orders unit records notifies nursing personnel immediate attention clarifies unclear orders nurse prior transcription demonstrates age appropriate competency skills knowledge ability perform skills specific patient population identified unit specific skill list completes computer entry requisition form contacts departments schedule diagnostic tests meals therapies consistent physicians order nurses requests assembles charts newly admitted unit maintains current filing physician orders test results disassembles routes charts department upon discharge transfer expiration or requested greets directs visitors orients patients responds telephone calls routine inquiries relays other messages responds intercom calls notifies personnel patient requests contacts physician directly through paging system requested authorized personnel notifies physicians room numbers clarifies orders etc responsible knowing lifting requirements job requesting assistance when appropriate contacts various departments change schedules arrange transportation cleaning equipment repair order medications therapy supplies related clerical duties filing photocopying running errands completing census forms ordering stationary pens fax machine displays concern initiative resourceful calm emergencies prompt efficient minimal absences cooperates good rapport nursing staff medical staff other departments visitors seeks guidance remains knowledgeable complies applicable federal state laws regulations policies assigned duties complies expectations regarding ethical behavior standards conduct complies federal hospital requirements protected health information privacy above intended describe general content performance job exhaustive statement duties responsibilities required discretion
