Job Description:

The Senior Power electronics engineer needs to support efforts required in this location, where high end performance drives are required for manufacturing military Gimbal applications.

non contacting power transfer or wireless power transfer

power products - sliding contact - transfers power from one side of the rotating interface to another.

certain applications getting rid of sliding contact and transfer power wirelessly usingsignals across the gap without contact.

trying to develop technology to transferpower without contact.

Someone withexperiencein Resonantpower converters or resonant power architecture.

Significant circuit architecture experience is required. Experience with motor drives included but power electronics related experience is more important.

schematic level design experience, circuit topology experience, identifying and designing best circuit architecture.

For example should it be a CLLC circuit or full bridge or should it use a wide band gap component like silicon carbide or silicon.

Being able to do the analysis / trade studies - and select the best circuit topology is needed.

Hands on lab experience, has troubleshoot circuits in the lab, used tech equipment to do that.

a candidate who has come out of Virginia Tech - the center for power electronics systems - is a suitable candidatebecause they will have good hands-on experience as stated above in circuit topology and design.

Virginia tech has a world renowned lab.

team leading experience is desired. lead a people of 2 or 3.

cllc circuit - designing circuits - to transfer the power without contact. troubleshoot to the component level, be aware of the pitfall.

The reason for the position to be open so long- relocation is the biggest roadblock/ challenge they faced, earlier they asked for more management skills but now removed from the requirement.

To be considered forSenior Power Electronics Engineer,here's what you'll need to bring with you:

Bachelor degree in electrical engineering and7 years of power electronics experience.

Master's Degree with emphasis in Power Electronics with 4 years of power electronics experience is preferred orequivalent combination of education and experience.

Power converter circuit/arch. analysis

Experience in control loop

Circuit simulation PSIM and MATLAB or similar

As aSenior Power Electronics Engineer, you will:

Be responsible for circuit-level design, simulation, and troubleshooting to support power supply and inverter applications.

Applications are varied, from low-voltage, low-power Point of Load supplies for the electronics boards embedded in our products to high-power resonant converters for our next-generation Non-Contacting Power Transmission systems.

Applications range from 10W to 10kW+.; Current project portfolio includes High Efficiency Resonant architectures for wireless power transfer, Wide bandgap power converters in several AC/DC, DC/DC and bidirectional applications including Generator power Converter, Gimbal motor drive, etc.

Direct small team on Power electronics projects.

Read and interpret customer specifications and understand how the specification applies to the electronics

Use thermal design skills to select component packages and design appropriate thermal interfaces

Circuit design for electro-magnetic interference and susceptibility attenuation

Select/analyze/test/document

electronic component suitability to support new products and existing product lines.

Design, simulate and prepares schematic design of circuitry for Power Electronics systems Magnetics design and evaluation (transformers, inductors)

Develop prototype tests and the testing of prototype power electronics systems and controls which include (but not limited to):

Provide field support and visit customers on an as needed basis.

Work with CPES at Virginia Tech to stay on top of technology advancement
